Refilling Gear Oil

Changed oil for the first time (3K) and accidentally let out manual transmission gear oil. I now need to refill. How do you take off the top plug (speedo control unit) to refill? It looks like there is a clip - I don't want to mess this up.

take the 10 mm bolt of the vss and fill to half the speedo ...only half!
