I bought a 96 Grand Prix & the radio / clock display has only appeared twice in the last two weeks, any suggestions on best way to troubleshoot?

The display in the radio is shot....faulty solder joints.

Is there any way to fix it without replacing the radio? I'm replacing mine anyway, but I know several people who have the Pontiac Delco radios with that problem.

I know on the 97+ radios you have to open them up and solder in a new bulb....or something. I've never done it, but I've read about it on www.clubgp.com

Hey i just purchsed a 96 grand prix se and the blower for the heater and air seems to be making a high piched shound and goes away when i turn the fan off. I was gonna try and find it and lube it up but i though i would ask around first. If any one has any tips i could sure use them. Thanks

Well, that happened to me once and it was a small leaf stock on the blower. IF you are going to open it, get the new blower motor and replace it. It is not that expensive and with a vacum cleaner suck whatever debry you might find in the area.

I think your problem is one of the vacuum lines under the passenger side dash is leaking. Take off the access panel under the glove box off, and you will see a bunch of colored hoses(this is just above where the passengers feet would be.) You can pop them off of were they are attached to the HVAC unit and do any number of things to get them to stop whistling. Teflon tape, lube, or even Armor All just to seal them securely again. Hope that helps.
