Ultimate sleeper

Well, first off, I figured I'd ask you Mitsubishi guys for some insight on this, because I'd like to swap a 4g63t into an unsuspected car. I was thinking about an Elantra, (Hyundai is a Daimler Chrystler car, same as Mitsubishi) and then i got to thinking, maybe a Kia. I'm pretty sure Kia is a sister company of Hyundai, so my thinking is, if I find a Kia with a 1.8 manual tranny, it might be possible to swap in a 4g63 turbo into it, Kias are pretty small and light... Just wondered if anyone knew better than I about this. Any other ideas for the ultimate sleeper would be great.

I've never heard anything like that before, but if the engine will actually fit in then that would definitely be a sleeper. I would never expect any of those cars to blow by me. To mod it you would have to do all custom parts. If you could do it then try to post pics. That would be sick to see. I think tiburons are pretty light.

i got a sport compact magazine that has someone's Hyundai Elantra with a 4g63 from a Galant Vr-4 in it... it's indeed possible, but doubtful with a kia. I don't think Kia and Hyundai are related companies, but then again, i know litte about either one

If you search the web you may find a site from a guy that has done this. I believe it was a hyundia sonata. Basically started with a stock GST powertrain, then began to mod it like any DSMer would... SOme good info on the swap there if you can find it.

True, but the hundai sonata used the 4g63 anyways.

I believe most hundias used a "4G" series motor. 4g63, 4gCS, etc. If there is a 4g series motor in there, its generally not too difficult to do the swap. Motor mounts are similar, etc. But they have the same difference between 6 bolt and 7 bolt motors, and some have 3 mounts on the block, and some have 3 mounts on the tranny, just like 1g vs 2g DSM. Otherwise the blocks should be the same "4g" family. But on this subject, I only know what I have read about it. Never tried it ;)

Sonatas run the 2.0, there is a few turbo conversion lurking behind the 4 doors. Elantras run the 1.6, im not sure of the code, but still in the 4G family.

I want to try to put a 4g63t into my 95 galant.
No one would suspect a 4 door plum colored, bubble-looking
galant to beat them. Then I can mess with all of my honda buddies.

A couple people have done the galant swap. Its not that bad. Basically you end up with a FWD GVR4 but its a bit newer ;) heh.

Had a 2000 galant with the piss poor 4G64. I was thinking the exact same thing driving around this morning. Problem is the newer body style is over four thousand pounds and i would not want that engine to carry around that much weight. Does anyone have a turbo kit for the 6 in the GTZ? If not you could probly fit a GTO engine.
