K&N Air Intake/FIPK

I have a 97 Firebird Formula and just bought the K&N air intake/FIPK. On the web site it says, "Works with original equipment computer." I went and ordered it from Advanced Auto parts last night and got it today. I opened it up and the first thing it says in the instructions (It's not even on the box) is that I can't use it if I have Traction Control, which I do. K&N is closed on weekends so I am unable to contact them. What would happen if I installed it anyway? Would it mess up the engine? Thanks in advance!
