No spark

Fuel pump runs but I don't have any spark. Is it possible for the main relay to be bad and have the fuel pump run? I know that the main relay has acted up in the past - in hot weather. To correct this in the past, I have soldered the pins at the realy. Currently, I have no spark. I have checked the coil and have replaced the ignitor. Also, no codes on the computer. Any suggestions?

The main relay only controls the fuel pump & injectors.

I fixed it. After looking closely at the distributor I noticed the crank angle sensor was coated with some gunk. I cleaned it off and it started right up. So before anyone replaces the ignitor, check the crank angle sensor. It gives the same symptons as a bad ignitor. Here was the trouble-shooting that I did.
Problem: Car stalled out and would not start.
Steps:
1. Does fuel pump go on. If not check main relay. Main relay ok fuel pump works.
2. Check for spark. - no spark on all plugs.
3. Check for codes on computer. - Computer ok.
4. Check cap and rotor. - replaced because very corroded.
5. Check ingintion coil. - ok per Honda specs.
6. Check ignitor power supply - ignitor power supply ok.
7. I replaced the ignitor at this point thinking it was the problem.
8. Start car - no good, just wasted money on an ignitor.
9. read more and carefully inspect distributor area.
10. Noticed dirty crank angle sensor.
11. Cleaned sensor with a q-tip and some solvent.
12. car starts.
Even though I spent $80 on an ignitor, I still know that it was cheaper doing it myself than taking it to a dealer. They may not have caught that problem.

Jackassi,
Thanks for the awesome link. Much more info than my measly Hanes manual.

i have the same problem... i replaced the cap, rotor,n the ignition coil, n it still wont start... the rotor wont spin? n the engine makes a noise down by the starter like somethings not catching? its too dark right now to check the crank angle sensor but ill check that in the morning....

Animal,
If the rotor doesn't spin, check to see if the timing belt is broken or check to see if the little screw that holds the rotor in the shaft is missing or sheared off.

Check the starter - flywheel could have some broken teeth - put car in 5th gear & roll it a couple feet - then try to start - also have someone hit the starter with a Ford wrench while cranking.
Other things to check: Distributor & what coldbeer posted.
What caused you to replace the cap/rotor, coil. Did the car die while driving or would not start?

the rotor was broke n the distributer was no good any more.there is a noise comming from the starter area that sounds like something is not catching?but the problem started when i was driving down the road, the car just stalled out n then wouldnt start?
