The motor itelf won't fit in, I think the Cima is RWD, and the plumbing for everything won't fit in a max, it's like trying to put a VG30det in, won't fit, manifold etc gets in the way... :(

the nissan cima is the infiniti Q45, so the engine wont fit into the maxima.

the gloria uses the same engine in an M45 body. too bad they're all RWD

With enough money, anything will fit. :)
It's been attempted before, but not a straight swap.

How much hp and torque that car making?

it says 280 hp@7 psi(stock) but it could be more and they underrated it to abide by the gentleman's agreement

So the engine is comparable to the Vq35 in the G35 coupe and or 350Z.

I don't like the 'drive-by-wire' throttle in the VQ35. Its not as responsive as teh VQ30

Granted that this is all purely hypothetical, I would much rather have the 30DET than the 3.5. The DET is already boosted and has stronger, more boost-friendly internals that the 3.5. You have to figure that from the start the DET is putting down 25 more hp and it is going to have much more modding potential than the 3.5.

more modding potential??? the vq35de has a hp peak rating of somewhere around 550 hp, whereas the 3.0 is under 500. plus, slap a turbo on a 3.5, get a new ecu, and you're looking at an easy 350-400 hp. plus, like i said before, the powerband of the vq30de is choppy and jerky compared to the vq35de, which smoothly builds power all of the way through the revs, whereas the 3.0 starts to lose a LOT of power in the upper rpm's

i'm gonna have to disagree. the vq35 is not meant to be turbo. i'm sure the vq30det comes with stock wastegate/blow off valve, and intercooler that can be easily swapped out for better aftermarket ones to get some nice hp ratings. think of the skyline. 276hp stock but 1000+ potential.

we'll see in a year or two, once the aftermarket flood of kits for the 3.5 has come out. and we'll also see once the skyline hits, which should prove my point...

I remeber seeing on the net that there was a Vq35TT-R in a Skyline that made around 500hp at the wheel I think it was.

it wasn't a factory vq35tt was it? th R35 skyline's coming here are supposed to have vq33TT's and make around 400-450 hp. i'm not sure if it's at the wheels or crank though

the vq33dett is the same engine desing as a vq35de, just with a shorter stroke for quicker revving...and that's whp, i'm sure

Heck yeah it has more modding potential. Just like a WRX has more modding potential than a Maxima. Factory turbo cars just have more potential.
If you're dealing with an unlimited budget, then a turbo VQ35 would probably be the way to go. But most of us don't have an unlimited budget so a factory turbo powerplant would be the way to go.

Dont u mean for most of us the turbo isnt the way to go? So why did they not just use the non tt Vq33 instead of the Vq35 on sports sedans and coupe like the G35 sedan and coupe, Maxima and the 350z if it has just quicker revving just keep the hp the same? I know that in Japan the Skyline V35(G35 in North America) is using a Vq25TT and a the AWD version is using the Vq25TT-R. The engine is suppose to have a good moding potential. I would not mind seeing that engine in an American Nissan car like a new version of the 240SX or even the Sentra SE-R.

well, there is already one tt kit for the vq35 that bumps output to 345 whp with very modest boost, greddy does that one. stillen is working on one, and custommaxima has one on the way as well. pretty soon, the 3.5 will have more modding options than the 3.0, i think. i doubt the 3.3 would have the same HP rating, the only reason they dropped displacement was because they are adding HP with the turbos...

How boost is that tt using if it is getting 345 for the wheel? So is 3.3 better than the 3.5 in modding potential or no because I read rumors that a 3.3tt is being using in the next Skyline R35 GT-R which is supposedly based on the G35/350Z but with like a whole electronic system that will allows you to control the amount of boost and how the suspension rides. I dunno if this is true or not but it a good guess I have to say. I would not mind seeing some of those tech in an 2004 or beyond of a G35, 350Z, and Maxima.......

yeah, the 3.3 will have more modding potential undoubtedly, it will have stronger internals to handle the extra power from the turbos. as far as the user settings for the turbo and suspension, those are very expensive things to do, especially the suspension, and i don't think they would make their way into entry level luxury cars. i think the skyline is supposed to be over $60,000...so don't expect a 30K car to have the same technology for half the price, especially from the same company

ya the top part was a reply to ur post. Oh so the 3.3 is better then. I want that engine now. So got an opinions on how the Vq30 that is on the Skyline compares to the Vq35? Well I think that some of that technology wont cost much since like like Volvo has like an switch on how the suspension rides like from soft to like sport to like racing and that is standard on the S60 model which compares to the G35 and Maxima. I think we will see something like that on our cars in the future. Don't you think?
