I noticed that there is no Listing for a Capri under "Mercury". So I was thinking maybe, if there is anyone else who has a Capri, we could try to start talking on this thread. I have a 93 Mercury Capri. So if there is anyone out there with a Capri, LETS TALK!!!!

I don't know a whole lot about engine stuff, but it sounds real nice. Capri's must be good on mileage cause I know a whole lot of people close to 200,000 miles. Mine's a 93 and it's got 99,000 right now. And still running good. I'm trying to upgrade the engine, in some ways. I'm getting a digital camera pretty soon, and I'll post some pictures of my Capri. I just put some Chrome dual Monza Tips on it a week ago. Right now I'm saving up money to get a spoiler and a different paint job. Right now it's sky blue. But I want to get it painted Indigo Blue or Electron Metallic Blue. I like the paint job on yours, it looks nice. I tried to get headers for my capri but they don't make headers for it. They say the only way really that I can upgrade the engine is to work with the ecu components. And thats something I really don't want to touch.

You mean a Boss block? What year block/engine? Which Cobra heads?
Have you verified the head and engine ID numbers? Normally those heads and that engine do not go together.

sorry for the misunderstanding, it is a 302 boss engine with just cobra valve covers. :banghead:

Even "Cobra" valve covers sounds curious. What year "Boss" engine are you talking about? Is this the late 70's, early 80's 302 with the "Boss" package, or do you have a Cleveland headed Boss? Are the exhaust bolts in line or staggered?

it's a late 70's boss engine. not sure about the rest havent really looked at it. will have all that info in a couple of days when i pick the car up. just bought it.

We just picked up a 1992 Capri it is stratosphere blue with white soft top. 2 plus 2 seating 1.6 liter engine 5 speed manual transaxle. It needed some mechanical work. We purchased it as a first car for our 16 year old. We will post pics later after some of the work is done. We have found that going to a ford dealer for any help is useless for this car. We found a mechanic that is good with imports for help.

my 302 smokes when I start it up and then stops. it has been sitting for awhile and it needs an oil change. there isnt alot of miles on it. it has been rebuilt not to long ago. I think the valve guides are shot. what else could be the problem, if it's that how much money do you think it would cost to fix?

Valve seals and guides can cause what you described

Hey everyone, I noticed the same thing no capri listing. I have tried to go to foureyedpride but when I do it says the site is not there.
I ended up here when I was googleing. I have a 1980 Mercury Capri fox body 5.0. Bored sixty over with alot of other goodies. I live in New York, Rochester Area. I have not seen any Capris like mine. My husband and I went down to North Carolina two years ago to the Food Lion car show at Lowes Motor Speedway...not one Capri out of all those cars.
I am glad I ran into this site. We are true Ford and Mercury lovers. We also have a 1969 Cal Yarborough Mercury Cyclone, a 1970 Cyclone GT and a 1971 429 Torino Cobra Jet.
I am looking forward to chatting here.

I drag race a 1983 Capri. I have run a best of 11.36 @ 120. It has a bone stock Explorer short block (except for cam) with the factory Explorer heads and upgraded springs for the new cam. I hit it with a 175 shot of N2O.
I am helping my Dad restore his 1971 Cyclone Spoiler.
