I just bought a 1998 Camaro Z28 (if you cant figure that out by my name already). Anyhow, I went to my local mechanic in town here, and asked about headers, and cat-back, and every kind of system out there. Anyhow, he says that if I dont supercharge it, which I'm not planning on, just to go with high flow cats and a better muffler. He tried to talk me into an Xlerator, but I've also been looking at Flowmaster 80, or something from SLP. Any ideas??

What I recommend to everyone, a Loudmouth catback from SLP :naughty:

I also heard about Ravin mufflers?? Are they any good? My mechanic also said that hp gains will not change much if I just put on the muffler, rather than the whole cat-back.

If you're gonna be doing the whole exhaust at some point, why not just switch out what you can while the car is up on the lift??? :naughty:

I had a Ravin muffler on my 95 V6 Camaro. I was happy with the way it sounded. I don't have any experience with it on a V8 though...

Well, I would love to do that, but i'm only 16-- I have no money:(. My dad will put some in, but not close to what i would need for loudmouth or any other cat back, unless you can hook me with something I can afford.;)

My personal opinion... Dont do something that you are gonna wanna change in the future save up and do it right the first time. Even if it takes you 3-4 months to save up for a loudmouth exhaust from SLP, that is what I would do. Because when you do get it, it's gonna sound bad ass and you will know it was worth the wait. And no other kid your age will have it. Just take it slow, you got lots of time for mods, especially if your only 16. Just get used to driving the car the way it is.

How can a 16 year old kid afford a Z28 anyways? I had to save up every pay check I earned for 2 months to afford the down payment on my 01 V6.

Bastard.

If you want cheap but cool..get Flows. 80 series sounds nice and loud, 50's are throaty and quiet.

I got my LM exhaust for $325 shipped from Mike at www.stealthperf.com. Not too pricey at all, and half as much as a Borla or GMMG...

StingRay.. This car has had damage, a kid owned it before me, had it fixed-- poorly, and so i got a good deal on it. My dad is helping me for now, but I'm paying him back. Also, I wouldn't just assume I'm a basterd without knowing the facts, thanks..

I was just teasing you

Word of advice. I'm an ass. Take everything I say with a spoonful of sugar and everything's fine.

How do you afford the INSURANCE is the real question :P I was paying like 370 a month for the first 6 months I had my V6

Alright.. I'll remember that. Its actually insured under his name, so I cant mess up. I'm going to put it away over the winter, too, because its not worth keeping the car insured over the winter here in SD, as it would be right near impossible (and stupid) to be driving around in the snow-- I would wreck it for sure trying to get around.

If you go to the site, and it says that he has none of them in stock, write him an email, and I bet he'll come up with one for ya. Mike's a great guy, get all my SLP stuff through him. Just tell him Justin Harvey sent ya :naughty:

Yea.. I'll bet that would sound good:D. What did that do to your mileage? Think I could do that with a '98?

Thanks BlkSS, I'll talk to him, and tell him you sent me. Still trying to get that to work with my dad:S.

does it come with all the accesories you need?and how does it sound compared to stock and the more expensive ones?and would it work on the lt1?because my uncles and me had the 95 since it only had about 6 miles and they said that both are the same shit is that true?thanks

BlkCamaroSS

The LM and the stock exhaust sound nothing alike, it's night and day between the two. The more expensive ones sound better than the stock exhaust, but IMO, they do not sound as good as the LM. Nothing can beat the sound or the price of the SLP LM exhaust.

I heard the LM exhaust and its great, after i heard it from this guy around here i want one! but one problem, as you can tell by the name, its loud and the cops around my part of cali are out to get any and everyone with loud exhaust or subs (I have the subs). anyway, i heard the guy that has them around here in a store parkinglot (i just asked him what system he had) and it sounded great but i havent heard how loud it is with the rpm's kicked up, and im a redline kinda guy, i wanted 2 know is it VERY loud, to the point of getting a ticket, or is it moderate (6 speed manual), thanx

but do you guys know if that exhaust will fit a 1995 lt1 since it is the same shit?

big_sam_2004
11-03-2003, 06:01 PM
from my knowledge, they will fit lt1's, because when i saw the ad for them in super chevy mag, its says "*LT1 engines require an LT1 installation kit" which i know nothing about.

What kind of exhaust do you have??

BlkCamaroSS
11-04-2003, 08:57 PM
As far as I know, it should bolt up just fine to an LT1. It's the 3rd Gens that want an LM exhaust that have to modify it...

What kind of exhaust do you have??

ive got Magnaflow's performance cat-back which i "tweaked" a little, sounds awsome given that ive got the 3.4 in my camaro...i constantly have people coming up to me thinking i have a Z28, breaks my heart to have to tell em ive got a few less cylinders than that :frown:...dont get it twisted though, the LM definitely sounds better than mine, it was more of a joke

If you want to put a Loudmouth exhaust on a 93-97 camaro, a LT1 kit must be purchased, normally around 60-70 dollars. It can be purchased from slponline.com. A loudmouth exhaust will not fit an LT1 without this kit. I dont own a car at this time, but I am a big camaro follower, and have wanted one since i was 2. Cya

I too am lookin into exhausts though, i always am. But i was wondering what exhaust would sound best on a lt1 camaro? Also does anyone have clips of a lt1 camaro with a loudmouth kit? I have heard them before, but the clip wasnt that high quality. If anyone is considering getting a loudmouth, but doesnt want it that loud, look into getting dynomax bullet or borla resonators instead. They delete the popping sound of the loudmouth, but still give it that loud obnoxious sound. cya

well, if money isnt an issue, the GMMG inc chambered exhaust is bar none the best sounding exhaust on a fourth gen. but since price in an issue, i had dynomax exhaust on my RS, it was only 180 bucks from jegs, its not loud by any means, but it has a good tone. and i have flowmaster 80 serise 3in system on my IROC, and i love it, but its a higher pitched tone, more like what you would hear at the dragstrip, rather than cruise night, magnaflow and borla have nice deep tones, but thats not my personal preference, i grew up at the drag strip, its what i know and love. so the flowmaster is great for me.

is there any loudmouth on the lt1?

Deadcarny
07-10-2004, 10:05 PM
okay, my $0.02..LOL...

For LSx and LTx cars: if you plan on Heads/cam/headers, DO NOT DO A LOUDMOUTH! it gets too loud and droney inside the car and will drive you crazy. Loudmouth is great on stock or bolt on cars, but when you start getting exhaust gasses through it more efficiently it gets to be too much. Some people like it, but very few! The Law definately does not like it.

Flowmasters suck for our cars. Flowmaster actually makes the worst flowing pewrformance crossflow muffler other than stock. I have seen some big gains from people going away from their flowmasters.

For Ls1 exhaust sounds, goto www.LS1Sounds.com

LT1 and LS1 exhaust is different do to the location of where the Y pipe ends. The LT1 installation kit is an 'S' pipe that brings the I pipe over to the Y pipe.
