Custom Dub Slade on 30"s

This is my Custom 1:24 Black Cadillac Escalade by Dub City. You've seen it before with its stock 24s (which actually measure out a little bigger to around 26s or so) but I've done some more work to it. Included:

30 inch rims
Full Tint
Tilt Hood
Rechromed Engine
Removed Ground Effects
Interior is same as before

You can see what it looked like prior to most of the mods in the very first picture. I'm very proud of those totally unsteerable rims :ylsuper:

This lil' guy is close if not totally done, I might do some detailing in the interior but other than that I can't think of anything I want to do to it. Any suggestions?

Not quite. Those rims are the imitation kind you buy online. In 1:18 scale they're about 21" or 22"s and they're somewhere inbetween the true 1:18 and 1:24 Dubs.

Looks good I was also thinking of removing the ground effects but I thought it would look kinda weird, but yours looks good.

Thanks guys! I also was a little wary of removing the ground effects and it actually does look a little odd when it is at normal height (its in the lowered postition here). I would actually like to add some side bars lik those normally found the Escalade. I may make some out of tubing.

Any suggestions for improvement?

I got the rims on ebay. Those are the replacement rims for 1:18 cars which I put on this 1:24 car. As you can see they translated scales well.

The hood is really cool, but I'm not sure about the rims. I think that they are just too big.

Yup, at this point the car would have no chance of turning. Hope the driver only wants his whip going in one direction!

I use a wool fabric which I got from my mom. Its pretty thin but fuzzy. Try going to the fabric department of wally world and asking for a wool fabric. The stuff I use is nice and thickly knit so it doesn't soak up too much so when I want to apply carpet I just put down acrylic paint and then lay it on top. You may also try some velvet type material, I've seen some customizers used thin crushed velvet as a lining for speaker setups. It looks very authentic and has great color.

I believe some places such as hoppinhydros.com sell powdered fabric. This is what is used in Autoart cars. Essentially you apply glue to a surface and then sprinkle the powder over it till it looks like carpet. Once I stop buying cars i'll prbly try that stuff out, it looks like the real deal.

Just make sure whatever fabric you buy can be easily cut and also feels like carpet. Its gotta be a little fuzzy. Hope that helps.

Take the car apart and then get ahold of the wheels. Twist them in opposite directions and pull until one pulls free of the axle.

how do u reverse the hood?

The hinge is custom made, and is glued onto the frame. I cut off the old hinge assembly.
