My friend has a 2000 Mamixa auto. all stock but has alot of weight in it such as big ass system and tvs, and i have a 1994 GSR with cat-back. Before i race i wanted know how far i might be behind because i no that the maxima has some awesome power yet it has VERY goofy handling.

that time is a bit off.
stock, it should run a 15.2.
should be a very close race, an if u can drive some-what well, u could win it.

Correction:
The specs I had was for a 99 gsr not a 94.

ah, s'all good, thats a bit closer, but i've always read/seen at the track, stock gsr's running around 15.4. but, its all around the same numbers...jus depends on ur source.

The maximas run like 15.1 from what I hear, but that is a 5 spd. I'd imagine like most cars, it'd would run at least .5 seconds slower being an auto. I'd say you should be able to take him with your 5spd, seeing how he has an auto. If it were a 5spd teg vs. a 5spd maxima however, The maxima would probably win almost every time.

You guys really want all the Maxima drivers back in here? This will probably be one of those 15 page threads once they catch wind of this.... :evillol:

maxima would kill it, maximas are really fast, much faster than you think them to be. They are heavy, and made to lug families around, but don't let that fool you, their engine is made to launch

i had a 95 maxima GLE and my dad had a 96 5sdp SE. I never felt safe driving them both. They had power but their handling sucked ass. I totaled my maxima because it hydroplaned and spin completly and crossed over the 4 layn hwy and passed the on coming traffic. God saved us and thank him i didn't hit anyone or no one hit me. Now you will never see me driving a 95-99 maxima. i dunno about the new ones but after driving my acura i now know how dangerious those maximas are.
Thank god i was saved and i got pictures if anyone if interested.

i'll tell you one thing, maximas are NOT safe cars. They tilt very very easily. Whenever i corner in that thing, i brake a lot and you can still feel the tilt. It feels like it'll flip over pretty easily. If you lower it and redo the suspension it should be fine though. Stock, that thing feels like a death trap. Although I don't have it anymore, driving a 240sx now and that car is a lot more fun to drive. Not as much power but I plan to take care of that soon :iceslolan . For pure racing a maxima would beat an integra, but if I had to choose a car to buy I'd take an integra b/c it has better handling and reliability.

in all honesty, i have a 1994 honda prelude s, not the si, the s. My friend has an all stock 2000 maxima automatic, and i beat him two out of three times. My engine isnt even modified, and i know mine doesnt run low 15's. whats up with this?

maximas are quite light and sometimes tippy good going forward but not turning.

your friend is probably a shitty driver, simple as that. When you race, it's like 50% driver, and 50% the car. You have to be confident and not a pussy when you drive. Know what you are doing also. If you get a good driver with a maxima, that maxima will beat most of the other cars on the road at the same price

Hey I have a 97 GsR and a 00 GsR and I have raced a manual and a automatic Maxima before and I am surprised but the GsR is faster! When I raced the Maxima it kept up to me all the way throught second gear then when I hit third gear the Maxima was gone!
