Engine tick

I have a 97 chevy tahoe 4x4 4 door and when I start it in the mornings I can hear a tick from the engine area. I can't locate where it is coming from. I think it may be from the valves?

I also notice when the truck is cold and I floor the accelerator it will not lock into 2nd gear? The trany has been replaced once and is still under warranty. It drives great when warm?

Thank you for your help!

I also have a 1997 Tahoe when it is cold don't worry mines does the same the engine just has to get warm I have had no problems. Are trucks act funny when the feul filter is clogged so before you mess with the trans check your fuel filter

i would bet a six pack that since your problem goes away when the engine is warm....

you have a bad lifter

i had a nissan pathfinder (1994) and drove it for over 100k with the same noise every morning... annoying as hell until it warmed up, after that, just fine
