2003 4runner... new buyer's impression

I have only owned my 2003 4runner for 2 days, however, I studied reviews and test drove several models for weeks prior to buying. Mine is the 4runner sport model with V8, X-REAS (std.), 2WD, leather, with a few other options. The 4runner and its X-REAS suspension received rave reviews from all that I read. I decided that I would not buy a 4runner without the X-REAS after aggressively driving a limited on a winding road... it's simply incredible. Limited models rarely had X-REAS, and included options (nice that they were) that I didn't want to pay for. That test drive vehicle, and mine also, handles more like a sports car than an SUV. I picked the V8 over the V6 due to the quiet ease (from less rpms) with which the vehicle accelerates and in order to get the smooth 5 speed transmission. There's nothing wrong with the V6, I just decided that the extra torque was worth the extra cash and 2 city/1 highway mpg difference. I opted for leather seats since my previous 2000 4runner's only weak spot was the wear on the driver's seat uphostery. Otherwise, my 2000 was a great vehicle. I plan to keep this one for a long time and want the uphostery to last accordingly. My vehicle's MSRP was $32,800 - I paid $28,000 (less tax and lic., after a $1500 rebate). I probably got a good deal, but certainly not a great deal.

I read some helpful posts from others... hope that this is useful to anyone considering a new 4runner purchase.

My sister and her husband just got a 2004 4Runner last week. I don't know the differences between the two years, but this thing is sweet. I only got behind the wheel for a short time, but I like it. Very smooth ride, and little body roll when taking corners. They didn't get the limited model, but they were smart enough to get the V8. Great acceleration. My only beef was that they got an automatic. I drove an older stick 4Runner with the supercharger installed, and I loved it. I think if I was to get an SUV, this wuld be it.
