AC trouble

When I press the button to turn my AC on, I can hear the compressor come on, but the air has stopped cooling when it comes into the cabin of my X. Also, a hissing sound comes out of the two vents located in the dash, the sound stops when I turn the AC off. Do I have a leak, can I buy R-134a at just any auto parts store? Any ideas would be great!!

The High pressure line gets hot when the compressor is running, the low pressure line is not getting cold. Any ideas?

The compressor is fried. Time for a new one.

After finding a proper meter to check how much 134a the system had, all I needed to do was add a can of 134a. AC is working again.
