JDM power > USDM power. WHY???

Someone please tell me why the USDM purposely supplies our imported cars from Japan slower, less powerful engines? What's the deal with that? Like, why do 240SXs here come supplied with the slower (KA20?) engines? Why couldn't Nissan of America just leave the SR20DET from the S14 Silvia and let the American's enjoy its power too?

Instead of swapping engines from a used JDM car I think I'd rather go to Japan and buy a whole new car there and pay the cost of shipping it back to the US just so I could have that pure feeling of authenticity. Anyone else feel the same way?

Yeah, but my wallet doesnt. Thats expensive, and good luck with emissions. Try and truly have an "authentic" car, you'll always have to change something.

Eventually, they will import similar to JDM cars. Ive heard that the top ends, like TT supras were actually faster here, because of the "gentlemans agreement" they had over there.

What's the "gentlemans agreement?" Elaborate on that if you would please.

So Japan's emmission laws are less strict than United States'? Emmission laws are for pollution control, correct?

yup, thats why you'll always have to change something. The gentleman's agreement was some deal where no japanese production car could exceed 280 hp. But they started lying about HP I guess and pretty soon, it went out the window
