tire wear

I brought my 2003 xterra to the dealership for its 1st oil change. To my surprise the mechanic informed me that the way the xterra rides the tires need to be rotated every oil change. I am not used to this because I'm used to rotating my vehicle's tires every other oil change. Is this now standard with these vehicles or is this mechanic just taking me for a ride??!!

Usually 6-5k is recommended. I'd do it myself personally. I guess ask yourself this (or your mechanic), why would Nissan make a vehicle so mechanically different that it required unique tire rotation as a stock vehicle? :screwy:

Maybe he's seen alot of pissed off customers lately that weren't rotating often enough?

As long as you rotate at similar intervals, the more you rotate, the more even your tire wear will be.

I rotate every 4-5k.
