Pocket logger

Is this system good enough to use in actual tuning? Or is it just eye candy? Anyway I was also looking for some literature on tuning using logger information. Basically trying to find out how to better understand my reading and what should I be looking for when tuning.

I friend of mine is nearly in the 10s in his 2g, with a pocketlogger and AFC. ;) I loved mine while I used it, and I still have it. But I have switched over to DSMlink for obvious reasons. (www.dsmlink.com) Pocketlogger is a very usefull tuning tool, and is the minimum required if you intend to use something like an AFC, MAFt, VPC, etc.

Speaking of fuel controllers. Is the Apexi unit worth it's hype...i personally was looking at the HKS unit.

I took a look at the DSMlink unit. I like the options. But the second part of my question involves the tuning aspect. I know where all the measurements are taken from and I understand there value but how do I go about manipulating these setting for hp or drivability gains

The DSMlink is 2G only, and the best thing to get, you dont specify what car you drive.

The Apexi one is very good, its the way to go if your a 1G. Which HK$ unit were you refering too?

For ref I have a 97 TSI Awd automatic. I was looking at the HKS AFR System. Seems to do the same task as the Apexi but without all the fancy displays and knobs. I also wanted to take some of the factory limits off. I head the top speed is 140. I can reach to 135 but the car doesn't do the rpm bounce or fuel cut. I have had my rpm at 7300 with no cuts whatsoever. What is my ECU doing to limit my overall speed?

There is no speed limiter on the AWDs. The FWDs were limited at 127 or something close to that. The difference was the tires fitted from the factory. ;) The ECU sees your actual speed on 2Gs, since the speed is fed to the ECU. 1g I'm not sure if it is or not, being a mechanical speedo. But its not uncommon to use an optical pckup on the speedo itself to get a speed input to the ECU on some cars. Who knows. The rpm limit should be 7500 rpm. In either case, the ECU cuts fuel.
