higher redline?

I am cursed with a low redline (around 6800) in my 1999 Dodge Neon R/T. Is there any way I can increase that? I've heard that adjustable cams and a new camshaft can do the trick, but I don't know if I believe that. I appreciate any help! Thanks!

if the cam is profiled to allow the engine to idle below 2k,
it is going to be loosing torque and HP above 6k.

Redlines are usually dictated by design/reliability considerations. If you want to increase this number, your best bet is to check with aftermarket tuners that have done the research for you. They know when things like valve float happen, piston speed/acceleration is unsafe for engine life or or other limitations. They can recommend parts that will allow higher RPMs safely. Increasing the redline will generally mean more HP at a higher RPM and therefore less torque at lower RPMs which may result in poorer driveability.
I don't think it is feasible for you to increase it to say 8000RPM without many $$$$ worth of parts.
