compass and outside tempature

My 2000 buick compass has stopped working it reads 100 all the time and the out side temp. says 136 any ideas whats wrong?

ummm, try calibrating the compass mirror by driving around in circles in a parking lot.

I followed the instructions in the book numerous times, once it fixed it but it went back to 100 again after a while. Some times it will start working by its self but it is only for a very short time.
