Heres the deal, ive been looking at a 96 Talon tsi awd it has 74k miles and is in pretty good condition, timing belts were recently replaced and it just needs very minor body work. I talked the guy down to 5,500 but Im a newbie and i wanted to do a little research before i bought it. The main reason why i didnt take it home was cause of the engine, there is a Hyndai valve cover on it, and the dealer didnt know much about the car but he said the guy who owned it before put it on after he replaced the timing belt cause it was stronger. I took it to a mechanic across the street and he said that Talons all have different engines and this one came stock with a Hyndai engine he said that you can have 2 of the same exact year and model talons and they can have different engines stock, Bassically i just wanna now what the deal with this is? and is this is true if the Hyndai engine is good?

I will need to make my decision on buying it pretty soon so please help me out

also the dealer is almost positive there was no engine swap

ok well i dont think that mechanic knows what he is talking about. The turbo DSM's have the 4g63 engine while the non turbo have the 420a motor. Those are the only 2 motors going into the eagle talons... Take a picture of the engine and show us. I honestly wouldnt get it. There will be more TSI's roaming around for sell sooner or later :smokin:

Hyundai also used the 4G63, so it most likely just has a Hyundai valve cover on it, not a big issue. Is it black?

Check the crank end play before you buy it.
