Hello peeps i know it might seem abit thick but i was wondering if any one can explain to me how and what the second cam does to maek my car a vtec i know it cuts in at 5000 rpm and i know thats what it is ment to do but how does this do this basically i need some one to just tell me how a vtec works thanks for your time regards k.c

first of all the second cam just separates the intake side and the exhaust side - there is a cam for each... now each cylinder has 3 cam lobes for each side... normally one valve per cylinder per intake and exhaust is being used while idling or lightly revving.... but when the vtec kicks in it opens both valves for each side and it opens them wider and longer too. therefore allowing more air and fuel to enter and more exhaust to leave. confused yet?

nai im not lost i know what you mean thank you for your help you seem to know your stuff so i got anotha question for you open my boot and on the left hand back seat behind the carpt there is a big metal thing looks like an amp for a sub woofer with wires and all sorts comeing out of it i dont know what it is any idea ? mine is a 4 wheel steer that might have some thing to do with it ???? regards k.c
