1993 Escort Gt problems

I have just recently bought a used 1993 escort gt. The car looks and runs fairly well. The problem I am having with the car is that on take off the car will stumble until the rpm's get up then it only happens for a short second in other gears but you can feel it. The car has done this since I bought it a few months ago. The only things I have changed on the car was the plugs, I built a cold air intake, and I also installed a mazda rx-7 vaf sensor but like I said the car did this before I installed all of these. the car will sputter at higher rpm but for only a second. This is really getting annoying. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. just looking for a place to start. also does anyone know what the compression test would show because this car is around the 148-152 in all 4 cylinders which I am not sure if that is good or not on this car. I assume it is. The car does ned a new clutch but I dont think thats any of the problem.

Thanks for the help in advance.

My 1993 Escort LX had a similar stumble, I replaced the plugs and it still stumbled. On a hunch I bought a spark plug wiring set and replaced that, and the stumble disappeared.

well i actually just started having that problem about a month ago and i took it to the shop and apparetnly it needs a new tranny because they are really shitty and break very easily if they are run hard at all

Charlie7708 thanks for the help. I went out and picked up another set of wires and that solved the problem.

I had that happen on my 95. Turned out to be the spark plug wires
