*SIGH* ok. marching band is done(well, nov 6th, but the main part is over) so that means no more daily rehearals. and i can work 3 days a week again. my license is coming closer by the minute (dec. 7th, a sunday  but pearl habor). thers no point in getting a dl if u dont have a car rite? so, that brings me to the subject. i am gonna ask my mom and dad for a mustang.
i have an faq sheet that i typed up, and i gonna try to convince them. i figure that my quest for the car to be should start this weekend. if it dont go down according to plan, then i will probably get a ranger, which will end up remaning stock (i thought long and hard about this. it doesnt make sense to fix up a ranger now, its to complicated. it will be a later project after college :smokin: )
i tried to think of questions and tried to make them sound intellegent, but i need your help to edit this essay. i need input by 10/29 @ 7 P.M. ill let yall know what happened.
thx for help. this site kicks ass.
ill post FAQ in next post.

Why a mustang?
I think I should choose my own car b/c I worked hard for it.
If the parent is buying the car, then the kid doesn’t have a real say so in what he/she gets.
What about insurance?
Well, I don’t think I can pay for it all, but I wanna pay some of it. Also, investing in car alarms, kill switch and getting a mustang w/ air bags will lower insurance rates. Also, I could get liability instead of full coverage.
Well, what year mustang do u plan on getting?
1990-1993 because
1) Typical cars like these tend to have a lot of miles on it. Most mustangs this old have 100k or more on the engine.
2) This is good b/c the closer it is to the blue book price, the better condition its in.
3) A car that’s not close to the blue book price usually have some problem w/ the car that they don’t have the money to fix, or it cannot be fixed w/o replacing the part that’s causing trouble.
Mustangs are nice cars and are cars that will be stolen.
Not true. Actually, imports make up 8 of the top ten vehicles that are stolen in the US. In Texas, trucks (GM and Ford) are #1 and 2 in most stolen vehicles, while imports make up most of the list. The Mustangs were #10 in 1997 but them moved down to #14. keep in mind that these were the 94-96 mustangs, a new body style was introduced in 94.
Also, the new car rage is imports. Most people are interested in Honda civics and the eclipse (mark’s car). There are other cars, but those are good examples.
I’m concerned that you will race on the street and participate in such stupid activates.
Racing on the street is stupid. Most people who do such things are import drivers who think there car is a racecar. Don’t believe me? Look at most of the cars the victims were driving when they died. If I ever became interested in racing, I would do it legally, on the drag strip, not on a street.
What if the car breaks down?
Well, I could buy used parts from a salvage yard for cheap. Its cheaper, smarter, and in most cases, in good condition.
What if the car is a lemon?
It wont be a lemon. I will do my research, get a mechanic to look at the car, and on cars I really think I will buy, I will get a car fax report on it.
Why should we let u get this car?
Well, I did work hard for my money. However, I can say about 75% of the teens that own a car didn’t work for their car. Their parents bought it. And their parents give them gas money, pay for insurance and pay for maintenance. These teens take their cars for granted, and do reckless things. That’s not goanna happen for me. I want to pay for the car, gas, maintenance, and some of the insurance. Why? B/c I drive the car everyday, and yall don’t. so why should u pay for something that u don’t use? Its almost like paying the neighbors electricity bill every month. Its my car, its my responsibility.
What are your plans for this car?
I was thinking about rebuilding the engine and tranny. These are the most important parts on the car and rebuilding them will make sure the car last through high school and college. However, high miles don’t mean much to the engine, because most of the time, in Houston, the car is either stuck in traffic or cruising down the highway, which means that the engine and tranny is in the 1k-2k rpm range. The miles on the car are not an indicator of the engine condition.
What about grades? Wouldn’t the car be a distraction?
No. The grades should improve. It takes 1 hr to get home when u use the bus. It takes the bus 15 min just to live the parking lot. Plus, if I finish what I need to do, I could just leave. If I want, I could go to the library to do school work or I could go to some one else house to do a project. The car will rarely be driven for leisure, b/c I have work on the weekends, and hw, after school activities, and band rehearsals during the weekdays.
Cars should encourage responsibility. Most teens are getting a free ride from their parents (pun intended). They don’t have to worry about anything, and drive reckless. I think that things you buy or build your self is much better than things you just get, like my computer. Every time my friends or I look at it, they stand it aww. They know my computer is one of a kind; they envy the fact that my computer lights up and has a window. I like knowing that my computer is original; it’s not something you can go to best buy and pick up.
Why a stick over an auto?
Well, several reasons. 1) The brakes on the car last longer. 2) Forced to concentrate on the road missing a shift isn’t fun. 3) Its good to learn how to drive both auto and manual and then decide which is better later on. 4) Manuals always have better gas mileage. 5) More control over the car.

good luck but if youu need to write an essay to convince your parents.... I can guess there answer..... NO
Let me be honest my child's first car unless they pay everything will not be anything like a Mustang or Camaro. That is just too much temptation for some1 who just got there license. I don't care how responsible and level headed you think you are. Once you get behind the seat of a car like that you turn stupid. I think every1 hear over the age of 20 can probably say they did some stupid shit when they first got thier license. At least if it's a 100hp Civic I lessen the chances. And yes my first car was a 5.0 Mustang.

yo - even a pony over 100k isn't something to be ruled out. Usually you'll run into little tacky things that can be fixed through junk yard or ebay replacments. If the drivetrain doens't hold up the repairs can be done by yourself for the most part - not to mention the 302 is time tested and fairly bullitt proof. Since it's so easy to work on, it's a good car for a guy who wants to beable to take care of himself, and learn the innerworkings of a vehicle. not only that, but for a v8 she gets fairly decent gas milage. I just replaced the exaust system on mine and i'm getting 19 on the streets and 26-27 on the highways with 3.55's. stock she got 17-18 and 24-25-26. Good luck player.

Ah my first car. 82 Buick Regal 4 door. Seized the motor from a dented oil pan that was caused by 4-wheeling and going off jumps. Car lasted me 8 months. LOL
Seriously though. Make it known that you have done lots of reading about the car in question, and it's something that you will be able to grow with. It's an investment for a future. It will give you great pleasure and experience working on the car. It will build character, as you grow into a more knowledgeable car enthusiast. You have learned that street racing is bad, and racing should be reserved for sanctioned drag racing tracks. Oh and the time spent modifying and maintaining a prestigious car will keep you away from drugs and alcohol.
