convertible top cracking

Hi,
The vinyl convertible top on my 98 cabrio has started cracking where it joins the rear windshield. Found that number of other 98 cabrio owner has similar problems and VW is refusing to fix this problem. Does anybody know how much it costs to replace the vinyl top and cost of labor as well?

of corse they refuse to fix it... for years anyone who buys a convertible buys it under the assumsion that they will have to replace the top one day. That is a throw away part of the car.

There is a company that posts on ebay all the time with brand new aftermarket tops they make for our cars. check it out.. just go to ebay and search for (year of car) cabrio top bingo.. that is how i am getting mine for my 84 rabbit conv... you can put it on yourself too... it is a little bit of work but can do
