I have a 96 trans am and i have 3.23's and i ran a 9.5 1/8 mile completely stock and i was wondering if i put a shift kit (auto obviously) 3.73's, and i have loudmouth exhaust now - what would i be running?

also what is a better shift kit? transgo or B&M transpak?

You dont need a shift kit.... I personally know a couple people that have put shift kits in and have had more tranny problems then anyone I know. So personally I would not put a shift kit in the 4L60E. I dont know why but I have heard nothing but bad things about shift kits for these cars. What I would do instead is just get a programer and reprogram the tranny to how hard you want it to shift and at what RPM you want it to shift at. Much better because when you dont want it to shift hard just change it. But this is what I am doing to my 97'. Im putting a Torque converter in(prolly 3600 stall or so), With an aftermarket tranny cooler to go inline with the stock one, maybe a deeper oil pan. Then I am goin to do my gears I am still undecided whether to go 3.43 or 3.73(look at my other post: Gears???) Just that with out the exhaust depending on the gears will be mid to low 13's(in the 1/4 mile). Bone stock I can run a 14.13 Hope this helps a lil bit, good luck.
