I have purchased a 99 Ford Taurus ,It did not have the remotes with it when I bought it. I have the remotes from a 96 sho taurus that I would like to program to work with my 99 taurus. Will and can these remotes be programmed to work. Can I goto the OBD II connector and short out the connector pins to put the computer into the programming mode. If
I can which pins do I need to short. I have seen a Chevy Dealer do this
to program my truck remote. Does ford also use this to program key remotes

You don't need to short out any pins.
Cycle the key in the ignition from lock to run 8 times within 10 seconds ending in the run position. The locks should lock and unlock.
Now press any button on one transmitter and it should lock and unlock again. Do the same for the second transmitter and it should lock and unlock, then switch the ignition off and it should lock and unlock once more. Verify that the keyless entry transmitters work properly.
You must have at least two transmitters to program. (even if one works)
Up to 8 keyless transmitters can be programmed to one vehicle.
If you have the right key fobs, this will work. Good luck.

This procedure works for 1998 + Taurus models:
Cycle Ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st remote transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter ( up to 4 transmitters total possible ). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.
I have these remotes available in my Ebay store.

If the door locks don't cycle after you turn the key eight times you may not have the keyless remote module installed. The module is located above the drivers side footwell directly above the accelerator pedal.
