death and dreams

In my life time, 21 years, i have only twice had a dream where i died.

One time i was shot in a back alley somewhere, and although i was dead i could still see and hear my attackers.

the other was WW3 and i was hit by an atomic bomb. i saw the plane go over, i saw it drop the bomb and then i was in a class room many years later and i was learning about ww3.

i have always heard that you can not die in your dreams, or if you do, that means your crazy.

Are there any dream specialists out there. That or anyone want to share a time they died in their dream.

dreams are whatever you make of them... ahhhh... i had something really good to say, but it's gone... bummer. well, as far as dreams go, i suggest the book The Lathe of Heaven it's an awesome read if u can hang through it...

i'm not sure i've ever died in a dream... normally when it gets to that point i just wake up... but i have had a dream where i'm just falling... woke up on the floor, that one was intense.

When I was a child, I had a recurring nightmare about walking down a long passageway lined with dark wooden panels leading to a flight of stairs that spiralled up to the left. At the end of the passage, was a man with his back turned to me - as I approached it would become clear he was wearing a black suit and a bowler hat.

As I was about to reach him, he would turn around and then I would be confronted with the fact that this man had no face... I would be frightened and turn to flee down the hallway from whence I had come but could never outrun the faceless man.

It wasn't until quite recently when talking to a close friend about it she mentioned the artist Rene Magrite. I looked up his work in the library and behold central themes of faceless people and bowler hats...

I'm convinced that I must have seen one of his works as a young child and been affected by the image. I can tell you that the realisation of the origin of the image was both a relief but also an anticlimax...

Funny how the images that were so terrifying as a child now possess none of the venom that once held now that I am an adult....

thats strange hey..

funny that, i had a dream once that i could go back in time. i was in a themepark, and this is really dumb... i was sitting in a bus stop.. in a theme park. and a really good looking guy came across and asked me something, and without thinking i was rude and didnt listen. and realised it jsut after he walked away.
i was kicking my pants about it that i decided i would like to go back by 10 minutes and re-do it all again. so i somehow, i dunno wtf, i jumped onto one of the roller coasters and the guy said "where to now?" and i said "go back by 10 minutes" and he let it go and the car went up really really high and steep i was basically facing the sky, and it dropped down really really fast. then i could see myself doing it all over again and making the same mistake but woke up when i was dropping down the roller coaster. i dont get it.

I do remember a dream of myself dying; i was walking though a warehouse with a gun... looking for the "bad guys" i suppose, then i turned round and got shot twice, right in the chest. Fell down on my ass on the floor, and i could *feel* the life in me draining. Couldn't move or anything.. then i looked over at my gun and woke up.

My recurring dream, which I haven't had in a while is that I'm just walking somewhere and all the sudden I'm falling and falling for like ever and then right when I hit the ground I wake up. Very strange.

yea i hate dreams like those...whoever said that u cant feel pain in a dream was smoking some shit when he/she said that cuz i know i feel pain in my dreams.

i dont think iv ever had a death dream...but one time does come to mind..but i think it was an out of body experience instead of a dream cuz it was after i had an operation when i was little...i watched myself lying on my bed during the night...it was really weird.

An easy way to put it is that when you dream its your imagination taking over. You can have precognitive dreams. Does this mean that's how you'll die? NO. Some dreams are inexplicable but you don't dream for no reason. There is a significance in that dream. Other factors that you could have are things that could be going on in your life at the moment when the dream was present. Such as fears, stress, or other major factors or important things that play a big role. Such as after I got arrested, I had a dream that I was in prison. I'm not even facing time. Dreams can also be things that your brain has been holding in the back of your mind. Well, hopefully that may help you understand dreams a bit more.
Peace and sweet dreams.

that ja rule bit was kinda random... his new song isnt too bad though. back on topic...
Ive died before in my dreams, i forgot exactly what happened but I think it had to do with war, like I got shot maybe. About the thing where if you die in your dreams your crazy, I wouldn't agree at all but I can't say much because I know I am crazy...
And yes, you can really physically feel things (pain, life draining from your body, etc) in your sleep. That is all I remember is that when I died I had the strangest feeling ever

I don't think i have ever died in a dream before but I had a dream one time that scared the piss out of me..

..I was riding a bike through the woods being chased by something and it was almost night..and i hit a rock or hole in the gournd or something and went flying off the bike and hit a tree head on.. right then i woke up shaking semi-violently i guess and in a cold sweet..

..I didn't sleep the rest of the night..

ok...death in dreams...according to my dream book:
"for some this is a dream of opposites. you may hear news of an engagement, wedding or birth. if you are ill, it is a sign that your health is being restored. a corpse signifies the end of a love affair or phase in life. you may part ways witha friend if a coffin is involved. a burial means that you feel overwhelmed by pressure or problems. a hearse shows release from tension and a skeleton inheritance. a grave is a sign of heartache. to dream of a relative dying may relate to part of you dying that is represented by the person. for example, if a younger sibling dies, you may be losing your immaturity. "
