Here is an interesting tid bit I found in a recent magazine . . .
"A race-spec version of the Gallardo shown at Frankfurt raises the prospect of a strpped-out baby Lambo for punters. Sources say engineers can't resist playing with the possibilities of a lightweight versioin, possibly rear wheel drive. But if the demand for the 4wd is as high as expected, they won't be able to build the lightweight before 2006."
Sounds good to me. Although, I have to ask question, has any seen the photos of this lightweight Gallardo shown at Frankfurt. I find it strange that no pictures have surfaced. What is even more strange is that the article shows a picture of the Murcielago R-GT and not even a regular Gallardo??????

indeed it's weird... I'm pretty sure they made a mistake and they meant the Murcielago R-GT in the first phrase.
As for a racing version of the Gallardo... with the handling and superb reaction that the car has been showing, I think it's a really good idea. And if Reiter engineers were able to do a 1.100 kg Murci, they should be able to strip the Gallardo down to below the 1.000 kg (aprox. 2200 pounds) mark! Even if it only ends up with a GT version of the Gallardo I will be happy!!!

I'm pretty sure a racier Gallardo will be coming along sooner rather than later. I'm very excited about this. I really can't wait to see what Lamborghini does with it. Hopefuly it'll be as outrageous as the Stradale or even more!
Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, etc, are all releasing stripped-out road-legal racers so it makes perfect sense to me that Lamborghini should want to join in and compete in this sector of the market.
RWD, Carbon-fiber ladden Gallardo
