So whats everyones bad modelling habits? Mine are that im too damn messy and that I don't breath when I'm painting something that requires a lot of concentration (I'm still waiting for the day when I paint a whole set of window stripping, I'll be dead before I finish).

I don't take the time to paint a body properly. I don't like to let the paint cure and then polish it. I want it done now. I'm trying to buck this habit, though.

-contaminating acrylic colors with enamels.
-Not cleaning bruishes with enamels on it
-giving cars 2 or 3 heavy coat
-focusing on other things rather then what im working on
-patients=none
-temper=short
-try to mod./fix something and end up making it worse (tried to turbo my taurus SHO [never happened] and ended up loosing my radiator hoses.)

Im too impatient... allways trying to touch things before theyre dry or paint things before their ready (ie with water droplets from washing) and end up with a bad finish :(

Not finishing what I started. I like to work on several kits at a time, but sometimes I find a cool kit I've been searching for or get a cool idea about how to build another kit I have, and I stop work on other projects and start new ones. And that repeats usually once a month. Right now got a Supra engine built, two VIP car chassis built, F40 body done, GT3 chassis done, and 962 body all puttied up. I'm praying like hell that nothing distracts me before I finish the Mitsu GTO I'm working now (80% done).

I'd have to say...

Sometimes painting a little thick on the body :eek7: Sometimes cap is not put back on. ( for about 2 - 10 mins) :eek7: Money.. difficulties :uhoh: Sometimes I rush a little..:uhoh: I don't wait for panit to FULLY DRY..:disappoin No respirator mask so I breath in too much of the paint :eek7:I think that's all I can think of so far..

I'm too anal about specifics. I spend too much money breaking up kits. Though it does wonders for details and specifics it sure does a job on the wallet. It doesn't compare to some other hobbies I had. I lie to myself and try to make the comparisons but I know that's not the point.

Beyond that my wife says the table is too messy. I say "it's an organized mess". In a sense it is. It may be a mess to the untrained eye but I know everything that's going on and exactly where everything is. Better still I know if someones been messing with my table. At least thats how it is for me.

i used to work on too many kits at at time, i remember one point a few years back where i had 8 models on the go at the same time, trouble is you end up not making progress on any of them, then you just get demoralised and pissed off with them.. But once a eventually finished them all, i spent all last summer working on one kit at a time and got 3 kits done (porsche 956, Mercedes C9 and Porsche 911GT1) in 3months! For me thats really fast!
Plus they're the 3 best models ive ever made IMHO, so one at a time is def. the way forward.
