Hey,
Someone posted a few days ago something about painting the orange part of the taillights red so they are one color instead of two, which I believe would look better. Has anyone done this, anyone have pictures? I'd like to try it but I don't want to be the test monkey...
Thanks,

I don't think it would work if you painted over an orange part. They had the top red and the bottom clear. Thats why it worked.

Yeah, that was what I was missing. Is there anything to do with those red/orange ones that most of us have?

I've done the yellow part of a 95 G20 tail's red. You can just paint over it and it works fine... I don't have a pic though, I think a few people on here have done it. here's a pic of my civic with the all red tails. Not the same car, but the bottom of my tails used to be yellow.

Does the red on the top and bottom look similar at night, or is the color noticeably off where the red overlaps the amber?

you paint over all of the the, so that way it matches.

The yellow color if the lense matches the brake lense red exactly, and at night, it blinks red exactly the same color as the brake light. Looks great

Do you happen to remember what color/brand of red paint you used?

Testors Transparent Candy apple red. It's a spray can. you should be able to get it at a hobby shop. the can cost about 3 dollars... but one thing, just remember to clean your taillights off thoroughly, because if you don't the paint will chip and come off mighty quick. It's also a good idea to use some testors gloss cote in it too. That will give your tails a good shine, and also somewhat protect them too.

While i like the look of all-red taillights, i'd never do it to my own car. I personally find amber turn signals much easier to see and more attention grabbing. I want to make sure i don't get rear-ended by some dumb ass on a cell phone so i plan on leaving mine with the amber turn signals. However, i might clear the amber part of the rear lights and use an amber bulb. That would give the "clean" look of only red and clear but would still show up amber when using the turn signals. I really like the look of the silvery-amber bulbs one of the other list members uses on their front turn signals. Very bright yellow when lit but very subdued when not lit. I'll probably look into getting those for my own car.

Yup, them's the ones. I actually saw the web site of a G20 owner who had these in his front corners but i can't find the URL. If i find it, i'll post it here.

Here's the link with the Phillips Silvervision bulbs installed. You can clearly see the difference between the Silvervision and "normal" amber bulbs.

Hello
Nice job on the tail lights!!!
I have to admit, it gives a nice updated look to the car.
Do you have a picture from a distance, so that we can see the overall picture of the car? :)
And also, have you thought about a clear coat (or gloss coat) over your finish?
Not only should that protect your work, but I'm sure it will give a nice shine to the lights.

These pics don't do it any justice. I will try to get some better ones up shortly. Looks great in person. Blinkers blink perfect red too. They do have a clear coat protecting them and the whole job cost about $5 in paint.
