If someone could please help me, the trans works good until I stop and it wont go back down to low gear so it will stall, if you gear it down to low it will do fine, sorry it is a auto trans, someone told me there is a chip or someting in there, if that is so can you buy them and can you put them in there yourself, thanks

My '96 Lumina won't shift out of first gear until the car is warm - then it works perfectly. The same is so with the speedometer & odometer.

A common problem on many General Motors cars is the Torque Converter Clutch fails to release and causes the car to stall when it comes to a stop. Most of the time it is a stuck Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid, but this is not the only cause of this problem. General Motors has issued a few Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) relating to this problem. There is also a specific diagnostic procedure to determine the exact cause of the TCC problem.
