Hi,
I am in the processof deciding between a hatch or a 1st gen DSM.
Well anyways I keep wanting to spend my money that I save up.
Like I want to constantly look at the newspaper and autotrader to find 400-800 dollar cars. I know If i buy one I will regret it.
Like I was look at a 88' beretta GT with 202,000k miles with a few rust spots.
I got to save at least $1200-1800 to get a hatch.
Once I buy the hatch i will probably sell my 4 door LX and use the money for either a ZC swap or go towards looks like body kit/rims.
Right now I have about 600 bucks saved up.
Any ideas that will keep me under control like some encouragement to keep saving lol.
Thanks A lot.

Put all your money in the bank, hide your checks/debit cards/credit cards/any way to spend money. This way you actually have to go the bank to withdraw money, and at least for me, that's too much work, so I don't even bother spending money.

THanks guys for ur support.
What im doing now is putting about 85% of my paycheck in the saving account I have. I use the other money for gas and other expenses.
I am also working alot more and not tryin to leave work as early.
I esitmate if I keep the pace up i should have the money I need for the hatch by mid January or possible sooner because of Christmas.
Maybe I can talk my parents into just some money towards my car for x-mas, lol.
Thanks

you do not have to forget friends, ive developed a few ways of saving money creatively
1. go out to eat with skinny/small friends they never finish their food....so you can :)
2. get on people for gas money once in a while if you give anyone a ride
3. let people feel sorry for you and pay for things so you can join the fun *ex. movies*
4. do what SiZ said
5. EBAY!!!

Here's a tip...
if you wanna save money, then don't spend it.
Yeah, I know, that never works for me either.
One thing I used to do was write checks wherever I went, and when you write the ammount on the check stub or carbon copy or whatever, always put an extra $5 over what you actually wrote the check for. Then, at the end of the month, balance your check-book, and you will find that you have alot more money in your account than you realized, so you take the difference, and move that to your savings account or something...

Oh yeah, another idea...
I've never actually done this, but a friend of mine does it.
Any time he want's to save some of his money, he goes and buys silver pieces at a coin shop. Since the value of silver rarely fluctuates, he just holds onto the silver pieces until he needs the money... So basically, if you do that, you can't spend the money without having to go sell the silver pieces, so your more likely to just hold onto them until you either really need them or really want them... sounds like a good idea to me.

i just put 2-10 bucks in my wallet and put the rest in the bank. I'm also lazy to go to the bank, so i don't go n' get money. Even though i want to buy a crap load of stuff, my car comes first, and if i REALLY want it, then i will do whatever it takes to save money and get what i want. i'm in the process of saving only 600 bucks for an engine. So far i saved 100 from 3 weeks ago, 100 from 2 weeks ago, 200 from last week, and 100 for this week which gives me 400 bucks to spend as a down payment on the engine. Now, i just pay the guy 100 each week for the next 2 weeks. sounds good :)
