upgrading a 4 cylinder?

I was gonna upgrade the hp on my car but my bro iz all telln me you can't really upgrade it. And if I tryed it wouldn't be worth it:disappoin. And then his friend comes a long saying I can upgrade it, might not be as good as upgrading a v6 but still worth it:cool:. lol so who's :confused:right? I havn't done anything to it yet so it's still I believe 140hp? or sumptin like that. Just tell me what ya'll think. thx

tell your brother he is a moron. you might not see as much of a hp gain with certain parts as you would see on a v8, but it is the weight difference between a car with a I4 and a car with a v8 that will prove just as beneficial. especially if you slap a turbo on the motha.

you can easily tune an i-4 (4 cylinder)
more than a v6 cause teh i-4 has more potential and can take more of a beating.. theres like 8 million threads with this info in it

www.gude.com has an awesome kit for about $2700.00 combine this with a CO2 system to keep your intercooler VERY cool and you'll be pushin' somewhere close to 230 whp if not more... haven't actually seen both products on a Tib w/dyno but I've seen a similar set up on an Eclipse and it gave it about +100 whp and was only pushing 5lbs of boost! In other words what I'm sayin' is, "Do tha damned thing!"

like I said before.... if he's NOT full of it then he has done a lot of work to his internals. 19 lbs of boost in an efficient turbo system will be giving him at least 150 hp increase from the stock engine... that's be 290+ hp in an '03... with no work to the internals the engine would go boom.
