I have a '94 Integra ls. when i pull higher speed turns (say 55 on a 25mph turn) it makes a weirs noise. it also happens during u-turns. almost like the tire is hitting making contact with the car. its like a scrapping noise? do you think my suspension is going out? the guy who owned it b4 me drove it liek the old person he is. so maybe they just need to be lubed up? how do you know when your suspension is going out? thanks.

First off, is your car lowered? If not, does it make this sound no matter the direction of the turn, or does it only make it when you turn one direction? If you car is lowered, then it's just your tires rubbing the inside of your wheel well, but if not it might very well be blown shocks, although I've never heard what blown ones really sound like. I just know if they are blown, you will usually hear a "klunk" sound when you go over bumps and stuff like that.

cars totally stock. im thinking its the tires rubbing against the wheel well... they're about an inch thicker than the stock tires (so i guess the car isnt 100% stock). it happens in either direction on hard tight cornering. maybe the shocks just need to be lubed up... i dont know... i know just about nothing when it comes to cars.

Easy to see if the tires are rubbing is to remove & inspect the tires - you should see noticeable marks. Also a suspension bushing may be bad, broken coil springs, broken sway bar end-links, blown strut.
What size tires are they? On the side it should have a # like P295 35R19
You can't lube shocks, the fluid is inside.

There isn't anything on Civics to be lubed, all stuff is sealed up. Like mentioned, it could be the springs rubbing against their perch or what have you, or a bad bushing(s) somewhere. Easy way to tell tire rub is take off the wheels, and look inside the wheel well. Where it rubs you should be able to SEE and feel a smooth spot where it rubs at. I know my 205/50 "15 tires rub the inside of my wheel wells sometimes, but that's because my car is lowered a bit too.

The 94 Integra has an OEM tire size of 195/60-14. If the car is bone stock, then check the tire size. If you have something different, then that's most likely your problem.
Sometimes, people realize they need new tires. So, they go to a tire store and look around for a decent set of replacements. The exact same tire size may not be in stock or they chose a different size which is cheaper. So, they get the nearest size thinking it won't be that much of a problem. You might have 195/65-14 or 185/70-14 which is a little bit larger in outside diameter so you would experience tire rubbing against your car in extreme situations.

i have Toyo FZ4 Proxies P205/50R 15. They are the same hight as the snow tires that came with the car but are about an inch thicker. Also, if the car hasnt' been driven hard could it be that they're just not broken in? I dont think thats the case with it being 9 years old, but im not sure.

Yup, sounds to me like the inner edge of the tires might be rubbing the inside of the wheel well. Get that checked out to be for sure.

i actually think its the outside hitting the wheel well... althoug their's no signs of wear on the actual wheel well... however the outside of the tires look like their's wear. I'll get some close ups with my digital camera today. hopefully ill be getting it looked at on saturday. it seems like i cant get the sound to come back unless their is at least one person in the back.

Wait, is it in the front of the car, or the rear? What I was refering to and talking about was for the FRONT of the car. When you have passengers in the back, does the car sag any on the suspension?

i havent looked when i have passengers in the back... ill check that out today too. but primarily the scrapping type sound is coming from the back (havent notice it coming from the front).

With the added weight of passenger & incorrect size tires, it may/will rub.

ok, i was driving "spiritedly" on my way home on a country road last night to get the front tires to rub, and i was successful. I was the only one in the car. their's at least 2 inches from the top of the wheel well to the tires, maybe i just need some stiffer suspension w/out dropping the car any?

is the sound a kind of high pitched squeak? i get the same thing from my rear tires when i take corners fast or have fat passengers in the back of my car(4drcivic). my tires are 15x7 205/50/15s, but i don't think they are the problem, im pretty sure my shocks are worn because when said fat passengers are in my car the wheel gap goes from about 2 inches or so to 1/2 an inch. it could be bad shocks.

If it is not the tire, then something else broke. There are many possibilities as to what the problem is, so have your car inpsected if you can not find the problem. Better to be safe than sorry

^^ I'm gonna try to get that done tomarrow. I'll be sure to post when i know what th eproblem is.
severity... it's not really a pitched noise. its a scrapping/rubbing noise. and the outsides of my tires are worn a bit too... so im thinking it's a combo of my shocks going out along with the tires being too wide. anyway, any of you guys know what the good shocks/struts are? handling wise... im not too concerned with the ride. i drove a boxster last night and they ssay that has really stiff suspension and i thought it was just right.

Eibach, Neuspeed, & H&R are all nice springs
Koni, KYB, Tokico are decent shocks/struts
Personally I would check to see if H&R makes a Cup Kit for your car - including matched shocks & springs
