Xenon Hybrids

I posted this inthe non-specific forum and thought I would do it here as well for my 330i:

Anyone done any research on the plasma "xenon hybrids" bulbs. I see them advertised all over.
I am looking to enhance nighttime driving (yes, I didn't get the stock xenon package with my car - 330i), and am looking for a street-legal brighter bulb.
Don't care about the "cool" blue or other aesthetic things....just don't want to put something in my car that would melt wiring or anything bad like that.
The dealer gave me the usual disclaimers...but does anyone know the real deal with these and what I should be wary of???
I find it hard to believe that these bulbs are still out there if they are melting everyone's car???

Check out EuroDezigns. EuroDezigns is the first company to come out with 30% Xenon & 40% Krypton Gas Headlamps.

I personally have their 5200k H7's for my lowbeams. The ones I have are 85watts which is actually 30watts over the stock wattage, about 5 months have passed and my wires all seem to be fine. The light emitted from them is definately a more pure white with a small hint of blue. I love them.

If you look around though you can find their new 6000k 55watt bulbs.

One more thing to note. From what I've read EuroDezigns is supposably one of the very few companies that make street legal bulbs.

Here is the link for EuroDeZigns website http://www.eurodezigns.com

And like I said if you look around online you can find their newer bulbs and cheaper too.

I did a quick search on Ebay and found a seller with a lot of lights for sale.

if you're donering about the technology behind them...it's basically that the two different gas waves emit different wavelengths of light...those "cool blue euro" lights are light an Ott light...a standard incandescent with a blue filter thrown on, really stupid and it cuts down the candlepower of your light. The xenon hybrids emit more if not brighter light and consume less power. One importnt thing to consider is fog...I'm not sure if you live in an area where there is lots of it but the shorter wavelengths emitted by xenon (blues and greens) are simply reflected back at you by fog...shorter wavelengths (reds yellows and oranges) can punch through the fog better...hence the reason for yellow foglights...anyway....I hope this was a bit helpful.....

Yeah the bulbs that just have the filters on them suck. The EuroDeZign and other hybrid bulbs are the ones you want. They are brighter and you can see further.

And yes they do have a down fall. It was about 3weeks ago we had some really thick fog where I live and At some points I actually turned off my lowbeams because the light was being reflected back to me. However my fog lights are the stardared 9006 bulbs so those produce enough light so that I was still able to see fairly well. (luckily for me my fog lights are actually better than some people headlights :P )
