uneventful 5.0 kill

just to let y'all know, i beat a 5.0 tonite around 7:00p

it was pretty uneventful, but i decided to post it anyways because it was my first real kill. it was just a black 5.0 coupe with his girl in the seat. i was in second at about 35mph, pulled right next to him... he looked over for about 4 or 5 seconds and then gunned it. i mashed the gas and pulled on him about 1 car length in about a 12-13mph stretch, and went ahead of him in his lane.

i slaughtered him. pulled up to the next light, he went to the right lane.................................. then he turned right. CHICKEN SHIT LOSER :loser:

Man, I wish you were in AZ. I'd really like to test myself against a Max driver I know, and who isn't automatic.

Every Max I've ever ran, I somehow pulled on, including that 2000-2001 that I wrote about when I first got the SE-R, and my friend's GXE auto.

There was even a 1992 one that snickered at me when I pulled up next to him as he was passing other cars. I beat him by about 4 cars...he wasn't happy.

the auto max's are fast but the manuals are a lot faster. and i believe the 95 max's were the hottest because it was the first yr with the new engine, and first yr cars for all manufacturers are always faster than newer ones. a race between us would be really close..... but watch out, im getting a bomz intake in a week :lol2: thats all im doing to it... saving up for some house or something.

really the only maxs or altys that can walk on me are the 3.5s. that is, if they are stick :evillol:

I don't think that's quite true... at least not for all manufactures. Cause I can think of a ton of cars that got faster as the years went by, not slower.

im thinking it was an auto 5.0, that'll help ya believe a little. it was not from a launch, but from a roll. 5.0s topend isn't all that great.

the 15.4 was what i did a few days ago.. it is a 14.9 stock. i had one shift in this one, so that pretty much explains it.. :smile:

It's all good I believe it happenend. Of course 5.0's should be hated there or in Ohio... There is a lot of bad-ass Stangs in Ohio due to a lot of manufacturers and Performance garages centered around Mustangs there.

When I was in Bowling Green or even Cleveland, I saw a TON of Mustangs. There must be something in that area that keeps the Mustang fans around.

so, so many 5.0's by me. i was wondering why.

LOTS of newer gt's....... boy, im sorry but they make me sick there is so many of them. almost all are modded too

5.0's infest Ohio the way idiots infest Congress.

It's sickening, too, because every single one of them seems to feel they have something to prove.

Thus they are a fun target for those of us in Ohio with off-brand performance like my teammates 280Z, or my dad's Omni GLH.

I like any sort of car long as the owners not a dickhead towards me and my car, but I agree people rant and rave they beat mustangs all the time. I'm guessing its because of the V8 status? my brother had one and I myself almost picked up an 88-93 style.

I could've had one hell of a running stang, considering I've gone through 2 motors on my current car cause I didn't know WTF I wanted for a motor :lol2:

i dont like mustangs cuz there over rated....i saw a 98 gt dyno'd v6 w/ 183 hp....even tho its a 6 cylinder its should have 250hp......mustangs have the 302 which isnt a powerhouse engine, if u wanted a good mustang, get a 30 yr old 1 with a 351 cleveland because if a ford doesnt have the 351 its not a powerhouse engine and u have to add race parts that are less reliable for the engine, to get the hp over 300....just give me a chevy 350 w/ tuned port injection and ill race almost any1 and beat most of them..... no stang has enuf ponies under the hood to race a true sports car in a real race....the open interstate....btw....my dad has raced all types of mustangs and camaro's on his motorcycle, beats them all, but the camaro's will give him the better race, he was about to race a shelby cobra but thought he'd lose, he was sayin at 65 mph the car was goin from 65 to 80 back to 65 in no time........i wish he woulda raced it i wonder if he woulda won, he has a honda magna 750cc

First off you can't have a GT and V6 in the same model, sorry that was never an option. So you think a 98 V6 should put out 250 hp? Come on now. :screwy: Are you serious? The 98 V6 3.8L motor is rated at 150 hp at 4000 rpms. The 98 GT 4.6L motor is rated at 225 hp at 4750 rpms. So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

And where do yo get off saying the 302 isn't a powerhouse? My 302 is putting out an estimated 325-350 BHP, and gets me into the mid 13's on street tires with a crappy automatic.

a 302 bare basic is a weak motor.....the ones they put in stang's are modified from the basic 302 and those mustangs are only meant for around town....they top at 130-140 if im correct may be wrong......i was watchin one of those tv shows on tnn and the guy put his ford gt on a dyno im assuming it was v6 mainly because it put out 183 hp.....he put headers and did electronic work to it and only got it to run 203 or 213 hp.....that 180 hp is pathetic tho my moms impala puts out that much and its more like a luxury car....it should have over 220 hp considering a luxury car has as much hp as it

Hey... you do realise that what a car produces at the Crank (BHP) is different from what it makes at the wheels (WHP) right?

So a 1998 Mustang GT making 225hp stock, putting down 183hp to the ground aint bad... and with headers and electronic upgrades making a 20hp gain in WHEEL horsepower is pretty damn good.

So why don't you go learn a bit more before you bash something you know little about.

And topping out at 130-140mph aint shabby, I'm a die-hard Chevy fan but you'll he hard pressed to get a Tuned-port 3rd Gen F-body any faster than that.

Horsepower means absolutely NOTHING in a REAL sports car. A Lotus Elise only makes 156hp, and I dare anyone to call that anything but a sports car. Or how about classics like Austin-Healey Sprites, Fiat X1/9's, Triumph Spitfires, MG Midgets, Lotus Europas, Honda S800's, and Sunbeam Alpines? Not a car on that list making more than 150hp stock and they're all finer sports cars than most will ever dream of.

First of all, the Camaro weighs abouth 3400-3500lbs depending on options. The newer mustangs weigh about 3300-3400lbs depending on options.

Secondly, A Mustang motor can rev just as high as a Chevy motor... your precious TunedPort's peak power is just at around 5000rpm. Gosh, thats like... a 5.0' Mustangs peak power isn't it?

Third, Back on the weight thing... You seem to think weight has something to do with it. Obviously a lighter car helps, but do you realise that most of the worlds premire sports cars weigh incredible amounts?

You've missed the point entirely. Weight NOR horsepower mean anything to a sports car. I'll rarely contend that a Mustang is a sports car. A performance car, definitely. One of the premier performance bargains in production today. Definitely, but a sports car is more than the sum of its parts, specs, or design.

In indiana back in te late 80`s mustangs and 5.0 capri`s were good easy to build street racers I had a 89 notchback with 3.73 and the exhaust it ran well low 13`s. most gt then ran 14 plus so I was happy I now have my little colt which is crazy ride, I guess the point was when the 85 stang came out it ran good, better than many many stangs before it and to alot it was the car to beat, cheap and easy to fix up.....

Ok your an idiot first off. You say the 302 isn't anything, well if you knew anything about motors thats what most guys run in the NMRA, oh yeah thats National Mustang Racing Association. Have you heard of a stroker? MY 302 has a 347 stroker stuffed in it, all motor with an Automatic Overdrive made 325 rwhp, and 362 rwtq. This year I should be around the 400 rwhp mark, with the help of a custom camshaft, and a c-4 tranny. I would take your 13 second, or at best 12 second 350 tune port piece of shit any day of the week. And don't even get me started with the 351, becuse that motor should be the one we compare against the 350, but why? Because the 302 can already whip its ass!
