Got infinity kappa's installed

I bought some infinity kappa's 6x9 - 3way a few days ago, it was a real bargain(?), €136. Still expensive, but normally much more expensive. Got them installed today, it wasn't that easy, the size was good (6x9) but it didn't fit easy because they put on a condensator on the side of the speaker :mad:
But it sounds nice, although i have to change the front speakers 2 now because the rear is taking more power than the front speakers. Then i have 2 take of the whole front panel

I have a pair of Infinity 6903i's in the back of my accord with a 10" sub in a ported box and the infinitys are a bit of a pain to mount. They were heaver (by a lot) and bigger than the alpine 6x9's that they replaced. The sound is soooo much better though.

Got an accord 2 and the same speakers 2 !
The sound is very good, I listened to them in comparison with some jbl's (are good spekaers imo) but it was a huge difference.
Have you got only 2 rearspeakers and a sub, or also front speakers (i think so). How have you got it installed? the rear speakers and sub on a 4 channel amplifier and the front on the radio? Because I'm thinking of replacing the front speakers and installing an amplifier an probably a sub.

the speakers I have in the front are just cheap kenwoods that I got given with some pioneer tune-up tweeters running off the headunit. Then I have a amp for my 6x9's and a seperate amp (bridged) for the sub. Im going to have a bit of a rethink about the sub. The sub box takes so much room in the boot. I couldn't have it without the sub either because the differance in sound (even with the infinitys) is unreal.
Ive always like'd infinity speakers. I cosidered the jbls and a few others but the infinitys are the best in my opinion

Infinity are an excellent speaker but I have found they can be a bit overpowering unless you match your front speakers. €136 is a very good price for your speakers. Did you buy the local over on the net?

Hmm... you need a sub to give good sound with the rear speakers? What kind of music do you like :) ? hardcore house?
I'm afraid when adding a sub the back sound will overwelm the front speakers or i must install some good tweaters?

Hi I agree with 00'civicSR that the infinitys are very over powering especialy with a amp if you haven't got a amp on the fronts. My headunit is a pioneer 4x45w unit so it is quite capable of driving my fronts and the tweeters. The tweeters are a necessity when using big good quality spreakers.IMO its becase they are so efficient and quite easy to drive. I listen to all sorts of music, quite a lot of dance and uk chart stuff plus some older stuff with big beats :smoker2:
It is easy just buying a sub but getting one that works with your combination of boot size/amp size and rear speaker type(infinitys) is sometimes quite hard. Then again you could just adjust the gain on the amp driving the sub as I have done. My sub is not a really expensive one (I got it cheap off a mate who works in a I.C.E. shop local to where I live),its a Jenson 12"

thanks for your comments... when i'm going to buy an amplifier it will be an jbl power 80x4 (4*40 watt continuous) and a jbl (or infinity) bass tube.

If you are going to add a sub to your system try and get an amp that works in tri mode. This will allow you to run the subwoofer and the back speakers off the amp. You could use the headunit for amplification of the front speakers. The size of subwoofer should be decided on what type of bass you are looking for. 10" would be better suited for dance music, it will give you a faster beat than a 12" or 15". If you are looking for boom, boom, boom :p go with a 12" or 15" or even 2 of each.

I'm looking to put a system together for my car. So let me know how you get on with the JBL. JBL are the kings when it comes to home cinema but I don't know much about there car audio.

I was thinking about the tri mode, I only don't hope my front speaker are 'underkilled' then. I only got a philips cd player with 4 speaker connections, no line out. But well, it's more the speakers that are responsible for a good sound than the radio, and i don't want to buy a new one new, with all that new coming features like mp3 and dvd.
boom boom... hmm, don't want really BOOM BOOM, but also don't want a small boom, so I think a 12" will do then.I've got a fully dolby prologic jbl kit, 2* 80 watts for the front, 1 * 80 for the center and 2*40 for the back...I'm very, very content with it, so that's the reason why i stick with jbl (or infinity = jbl). And I don't believe those audio stores, they only want to sell the brands they make the most money on IMO.
I don't think i'll buy it the next coming weeks/months, it's much 2 cold to install now! Or i have to find a good deal.
