97 factory tow package harness

I need to connect a brake controller and trailer plug to my Tahoe. It has the factory tow package. In the left rear of the truck under the fender is the harness with all the wiring terminated and zip tied.

My question is, is there wiring terminated at the front under the drivers side of the dash as well? I have not been able to locate any. I am not the original owner and there is no owners manual.

TIA.

You may find a blue and orange wire tucked back against the firewall for the brakes and battery. I found the other end tucked up on the driver side of the hitch, ty-rapped to the frame.......good luck

White951 how did you make out wiring your brake control? I'm trying to connect a brake control to my 97 tahoe and can't find the other end of the orange and blue wires at the front of the truck.

I had to run out and check to see if this was the wires i dealt with before, and they were. The manual leads you to believe that the orange and blue wires are in a Fused AUX circuit, but i guess they decided not to connect them at either ends.

There is a bundle in the front kind of like the one on the hitch, it is sandwiched between the power booster(master brake cylinder is mounted on the booster) and the firewall like blmsam said, you got to look to see it, its wrapped in electrical tape like the rear bundle was, its looped up so a piece of it might be poking out or you can see where is feeds from if you get underneath where the oil filter/ universal joint is and just to the left of the joint you'll see a split loom with wire in it that should be both wires, its mounted by a tough piece of plastic.

remove it and you can wire that with some rings to the underhood fuse box, there are two posts on the rear side of the box that have 30A maxi fuses (see the legend on the box cover). if you connect a BRAKE system this way i would suggest first that you use HIGH quality terminals especially on the hitch end, I used terminals rated for ground burial that had dielectic in them, and also pick some of those oversized Maxi fuses, you never can find them when you need them. and towing a 6000lb trailer its nice to have brakes the whole trip.

hope this helps

Thanks for the help. I'll get a chance to look for them tomorrow.
