oil pressure

what is the normal operating oil pressure for 1993 blazer tahoe? it usually sets around 40psi. is that right or should it be higher it has the 4.3 vortec in it. when your ideling it usually is 40 but u give it gas it rises but then u put it in drive and it goes back to around 40 psi.
