OBD I vs. OBD II

I have a '95 Maxima GLE, how can I be sure it is OBD II compliant? I understand some '95s were either I or II, depending on the month they were produced. All 96's were OBD II. The diagnostic connector appears in the fuse block. Where are the OBD II connectors located on 96+ Maximas? I need to pull the code (MIL light is on) and other than seeking a dealer nobody seems to have the old code readers around.

Any help on the subject is greatly appreciated.

since cars are usually released like 4-6 months before their actual production year(ie 04 maxima's on sale now in 03)all 1995's are obd-1. the law mandating the change in on board diagnostics went into effect january 1 1996. some 96's might be odb-1 though, if their owners are lucky.
