It makes a BIG hissing sound when your engine is on, and when u go more than 3000rpm, it 'll sound like a muffler, but not as loud.

Tips don't really make any sound.
The CAI will have a nice growl when you hit the gas hard, but if you drive grandma style, then you won't hear anything.

I'm pretty sure the intake will fit a DX, LX, EX and Si. Is your throttle body sideways or upright?

Sorry I stole your pic DW, but yours was the only one I could think of with an engine shot of a 5th gen. While I'm stealin pics, the part circled in blue is the throttle body.

I don't know what brand you guys are using, but my custom made CAI runs down to a shiny little metal thingy up front of my bumper...plus, mine doesn't sound anything like you guys described. Mine goes vroooozzzzzzzzzzzPPPPPSSSSHHHHH! Is there anything wrong with mine? I can't seem to figure it out...

The basic concept should work. The engine configurations are basically the same, you might have to do something a little bit different to get the pipe down tot he wheel well, but it should work.

I read that article that was in the 3rd from the top post down on the previous page to this topic, and it's interesting to compare notes of a CAI to a shorty ram, and then brands of each. Here's my intake on my '00 Civic DX coupe, D16Y7 engine if you go by engine code:
http://phixion.freewebspace.com/engineblue.JPG
My intake is an APC Intimidator short ram intake. As you can see in the pic, the throttle body of the D16Y7 motor is verticle, which can cause clearance problems like happened with mine, when installing with a strut brace in place, plus if you can't see in the pic, the intake "hangs" there, not attached to the engine bay to hold it in place, but I'm in progress of fabricating a homemade brace to hold the intake pipe better in place. Anyways, onto the sounds of my intake... It roars in a LOUD rumble under WOT from idle, to about 3000-3500 RPM, and then above there, the sound of the engine reving begins to overtake, as the rumble quiets down and goes into the famous intake whine/hiss. At idle, I can hear the intake hiss at certain times, esp. with the car at idle, but in "drive." At redline the intake rumbles, but the engine noise is a little louder than the intake noise. When under moderate to light throttle/acceleration, the intake is almost un-noticeable in sound, except for the hissing sound you can occasionally hear over the engine, but its not much louder than the hiss you hear from and intake on an engine at idle. So basically an intake is about as loud as you want it to be, when you want it to be in reguards to how hard, or fast you push your gas pedal. As for my intake on my car, at it's loudest point, it's just as loud as a bomb type muffler, but with a much deeper, more pleasant tone. And going up a ramp at near WOT, the rumble fro mthe intake can vibrate your ribcage from INSIDE the car. Very cool indeed.
