When you primer a car do you have to sand it down with a fine grit sandpaper and reprimer it or can you just spray paint it after you finish

Sanding the primer will help get a smoother finnish :iceslolan not necessary but you'll like the result in the end.

Two or three, depending on how thick you apply each coat.

2-3 coats of primer should be all you need.
I dont sand the primer as this makes dust which is not good for your paint. :sly:
If you get your primer nice and smooth there should be no reason to have to sand

that's right p-man, you know, with all the bad luck I've been having with paints, I just should keep all my cars in primer, specially because that big $2 can of dollar store primer lasts forever, goes on smooth as silk, and is rust resistant.
