if i were to put an intake on my 1994 Integra LS, would my gas mileage drop much? also, when doing i/h/e is the intake normally what's done first? thanks guys.

The majority of the time its exhaust first, then typically an intake, then headers. (Thats just how I've usually seen it.) Some people just have an exhaust, and some never get around to putting the headers on. Its just I/H/E because thats the way the air flows. Gas mileage shoudnt drop, barely if at all.

would it be bad to add intake first and just leave it like that for a while? also, on average what does an intake add (HP wise)?
edit: i have a guy trying to tell me 20HP, but i think thats a load of BS, what do you guys thinkg?

intakes wouldn't drop fuel economy much, if at all. although some people think they are speed racer by pushing their car harded after intalling that one mod, which then of course will consume more fuel. theres really no order they have to be done when it comes to i/h/e, its all up too u. generally people want exhaust first because of the sound.
oh when it comes to gains, this depend on what kind of intake and vehicle. for a rai, about 1-2 max, for a cai, about 3-6.

3-6 sounds more like it for cai, i knew he was bs'ing when he said 20hp from just a cai

well i wouldnt get header BEFORE exhaust. that just seems silly. stock piping on a 90-93 integra is like 1 5/8", no use in having extra flow before that because it would just get bottlenecked afterwards.
in my experience my gas mileage went UP after putting the intake on. ive had 2 90-93 integras, ive had 2 rai's and a cai. from what i can tell from driving it the rai was overall better. the cai starts pulling a little sooner and keeps pulling a little longer but it pulls less. for daily driving i'd get a rai... plus its cheaper. unless its summer time, the cai so owns the rai. my gas mileage went down the shitter during summer time because the air is so hot + hot engine bay... that is why i bought a cai, just for summer, im going to swap it out soon probably, rain + cai = BADDD :D

what's rai stand for? whats the difference between that and cai? i live in WA so rai might be better... the summers only get up to about 85-90 degrees for like 3 weeks LOL

If you drive normally after you've installed the intake, you should see a 1MPG gain...but no one on these forums is ever able to drive normally.
Once I got that vacuum-cleaner sound, I was revving it up just to back it out of the driveway.
Voom-Voom!

PS-You'll get your best results when you've removed all of the bottlenecks. Sure, get an intake, header, and exhaust...but don't forget the hi-flo catalytic converter!

Yeah Iv'e seen a 1-2 mpg gain with my intake, then turn off the a/c and i saw 32.5 mpg. Both times I tested, w/ and w/out a/c I drove hard here and there.

Coundn't agree more hehe :iceslolan
As soon as I got my cai normal driving ceased and reving past 4k became normal everyday driving. AWE the sweet sound of I/E

i commute about 35miles to work everyday (and 35mi back), i usually just hit 65 and click cruise control so i dont get a ticket (it's so damn easy to reach 90mph and not even realize it!)... anyway, would cai be worth the risk with me living in WA?... "the rainy state" lol. I also garage the car too.

I live on the Alabama gulf coast and it rains like craaaazy here, this summer it went like a whole month and a half raining every single day, no lie. June-August it rained 35.31 inches. I have decided against CAI and am sticking with RAI. I looked into the air bypass filter, but it only works if the tube is completely stopped up with water, in other words completelly submerged (like when you have a straw with a hole in it  ). I talked to my mechanic a week or so ago, and he said he has a lot of cars with CAI coming in with hydrolock...

He must be cool, some mechanics knowing that, would have told you to go for it.

Aw man hes great, an old friend of my dad. He's honest, knows what he's doin and doesn't charge more that whats fair. He only works on imports, although he'd rather work on mercedes and bmw's than honda's. :dunno:

Sure. You'll get better gas mileage and your engine will sound cooler IMO. You will only get subtile performance gains by itself though. Thats all I have right now. Just get a cheap one off of ebay and put a K&N filter on it.

I think you'll notice better gains, if you do notice, in the higher RPM range.
