2002 passport won't start

My 2002 Passport w/14,000 miles has occasional starting problems. I find that playing with the gear shift gets it started. It has been to the dealership 3x since 9/20/03 and they have replaced sensors, boards etc, but once again today it would not start. Any suggestions? They are stumped at the dealership but I must say they have been wonderful to me including a rental from Enterprise at no expense.

Maybe a gear position switch? or the shift linkage needs adjustment?
