del sol making a wierd noise

ok guys my friend has a 95 del sol that she drives pretty fast but thats not what i wanna talk about. a few days ago she was on the highway doing about 110 when it backfired and scared the crap out of her. it needed an oil change and she and i did that today but she hasnt tested it out yet. before she backfired she could smell the burning oil. i was just wondering if the backfire is anything to worry about. thanks guys

but sorry, I don't really know what that could be. how many rpm was it turning at the time? did it throw a rod or crack a piston or soemthing? sounds stupid but you never know...

The backfire mostlikely had nothing to do with the oil. Unless of course she blew the motor in one way or the other. Does the car run and drive and sound fine now? Is the check engine light on? Did she jump the timing belt. You could also tell her not to drive 110mph on public roads because shes RETARDED!!! Nothing like killing yourself and a bunch of other people as well. :loser:

addict i agree she shouldnt have been doing it but it wasnt me. i told her that prolly wasnt a good idea but shes a chick and we are from texas so she doesnt listen to me. its running fine now though. no pistons or anything were messed up but thanks for your help guys. the cars running fine now as far as i know. im not sure how many RPMs she was at when it happened but ill ask her and let you know miata. thanks again for everybody who wasnt a dumbass.

yeah im sry bout that matt i was having a reeeally bad day and i was not in a good mood. i hate it when people do that to me and i really wish i could take it back. as for the del sol forum i didnt see it untill you told me about it miata...oops.

no big deal... you can probably learn more about engine mods and such from here considering the Del Sol and the Civics share engines.
