airbag suspension?

is these the things that will lift the car?like auto lift? if not what is it? and how does it work?

Airbag suspension is mostly used by trucks. They use special compressors. You use like buttons inside the cabin to pump the compressors, which then lift, or drop the vehicle. Usually they operate on different sides, so you can like do the front or back seperately, or left or right hand sides of the car.

Hearing that this type of suspension may have gotten cheaper, I asked about it for a teg, and no they didn't have any kits for them here yet, and it was likely to cost $11,000 AU to have one customised!! :eek2:

EK civic kit was like $6,000 AU.

There is also Hydraulic Suspension (which is illegal here), which is easier to operate, just flick a switch, and the whole car can go up and down. You can actually bounce the car - one of show cars here has it. Although i heard, too much bad usage might stuff it up.

Heres the deal...

First off your a lucky person if you can get an airbag to fit in a honda. Hondas use the AirRod setup because they will fit between the UCA (upper control arm). These setups are great for shows or cruising, if you just want to get off the ground. They are in no way performance oriented. You will probably get about 6-8 inches of lift with an airrod setup. These kit will run you about $500 just for the front, then another 500 for the rear. I dont even know if that price includes all your compressors and airtanks and lines, etc. Plus they are probably really slow unless you spend some big money and get bigger tanks with stronger compressors and thicker airlines, etc..

You can also go with Hydraulics there are a ton of different setups you can go with hydraulics and if you want I can tell you what they are. Hydraulics will probably be a ton cheaper depending on the setup you go with.

yeah, like he said....cylinders or rods, no bags.

probably around $400/side for rods and mounts...you're gonna wanna use electric valves for speed...another $200 for four....compressor will run you around $250....tanks around $50...plus another $50-100 for lines and fittings....

they actually make a strut with an airbag mounted in the top, ill have to look for the article that i saw them in to give you more info.:D

You better check to see if those are for Hondas or if they are for cars with struts.. Cause unless they made a really small bag it wont fit.

yeah, the strut w/ the bag is for macpherson suspended cars....cylinders only for honda's...

sorry keep forgetting that most of you have newer rides, my honda has mcpherson struts front and leaf springs in the rear.:D

Dont let my name fool you. I have air cylinders, but that doesnt sound as cool as airbags, therefore, I chose AirbagsOnDaHonda istead of AirCylindersOnDaHonda. Anyways, a good setup can cost you a chunk. I got the best stuff I could, b/c you know what they say; You get what you pay for. The quicker the valves, the faster the whole setup will be. They are your main piece really. Everything revolves around them. They are the most expensive piece too, if you get decent ones. (My valves were almost $700). Plus, if you get a shop to put the cylinders on for you, they will charge about $800. It gets expensive, but it sure turns heads.
