Been looking for a turbo. Anyone hear anything good....or bad about the FP sleeper 16? Also been looking at there Big 28. I'm looking for quick boost at about 3500 or less. Looking to put down 400 plus at the wheels

If 3500 is your goal, then even a 20g will meet that criteria :) I always say go with the largest turbo that spools where you want it to. And a 20g is less than 1200... I believe Mike at SBR said he could build even the TOD6H 20g that I ran for a while for 999, but give them a call first. That spooled around 36-3700, and the cams I have hurt spool. If thats pushing it too much, a TDO6 or TDO5H 20g can also be made. The EVO16g is also an atractive option at 579 shipped, and it spools below 3500 but can still run 11s if you push it. My buddy let me drive his "small 16g" 2g last night. I screwed the pooch on the launch (1.9, ouch) but ran a 12.07 at 114.7. With even a crappy 1.8 that run had 11s written all over it...

What turbo to buy are always tough questions to answer, even after having run a dozen different turbos myself. ;)

The EVO 16G is a very nice option, cheap and will be able to get you good times and traps. When Its time to rtire the 14B, the EVO willl be my choice.

Well just to give my background i want to build a road race car more than an 1/4 mile car. So i'm looking for quick spool that holds till redline. Also i plan to make a bigger chunk of power from the engine itself than most who just want to bolt on a turbo. 2.4 stroker kit with a fully worked head is what i'm looking to do along with turbo upgrade. And you know all the other goodies of course. Call me crazy but the car is gonna remain AT through all of this.

look into head work and alot of porting also

If your looking for torque do NOT touch the head, preferably run a 2G head. If you port it you will lose the bottom end. You want to find some cams that will work for your application.

IF you are going with a stroker, you should have mentioned that in the first post. That makes a huge difference in what turbo you should run. A 16g will run out of breathe real soon on a 2.4 liter. And the extra displacement will spool a 20g like a 16g. I would highly recomend a 20g (at least tdo6 or tdo6h), or a GT12. And the ballbearing design of the GT 12 will just help spool further. I too would leave the head alone, but a pair of 264 cams wouldnt be a bad thing. With the extra displacement the motor is going to need to breathe more, hence the empahsis on the cams and the larger turbine wheel.
