ok so some of you may have noticed that I haven't been posting much lately, thats because I've been in the rx-7 boards a lot because I just bought a 91 rx-7 non-turbo! only $2250! yea so its not a 240sx but I already like it better, I know people will want pictures so I'll see what I can do sometime this week

Its probably a coupe. In 1991 they only made a coupe, turbo II and a convertible model rx-7. They only made the GTUs in 1989 and I think only a handfull were made in 1990.
Good job Soyo, RX-7s are way better than 240sx's. (dont flame me, quote me or anything on that because its MY opinion)

so are maxima's...
:evillol:
went to norwalk tonite. best time of 15.404 @ 90.13 with a 2.364 60ft time. my other notable run was a 15.461 @ 91.05, with a 2.256 60 ft time.
and remember im still learning stick, i was granny shifting. once i get shifting down, launches, and a cold air intake, im easily looking at 14's.
:) im finally happy with my car

Maxima's are nice. My friend had a 97 . he had it gutted and had a pretty nice body kit. Then a week later he put in some sparco seats and he totaled his car. Some 16 yr old chick who just got a civic t-boned him.
Once you get that shifting down and are able to double clutch and get extra rpm's out of a gear you should be real quick.

yea there's a lot you can do to them i heard... im not touching mine until next year though, maybe just a cold air intake, and practice shifting all winter. im glad i went out to the track right before they close next week, so im not wondering if i have a fast car or not for 6 months.
i wanted an rx7, but i also wanted a four-door... small cars are nice but i like nice cargo room. if any of you are thinking about getting a max 5spd, you won't be disappointed. make sure it's a v6 though, i believe the 92-94's have the same 190hp, but only 190tq. the 95+ have 190hp and 205tq.

oh and yes its a coupe, and I have been to www.teamfc3s.org I'm there like everyother day and any day I'm not I'm at either www.racingbeat.com or www.rx7trix.com ... I like to have a plan when I get a car
now if I could just find a job that would pay me like 20 dollars an hour I could afford to fix it up real quick haha :loser:

What are so good about RX-7's??? I know they are rotary powered and churn out a lot of hp, but they don't got much low-end torque do they. Also which handles better, RX-7's or 240sx's?

rx-7's handle much better than 240's, rx-7 body weight ratio is like exactly 50/50 and a 240 is lighter in the back making the back end swing around easier(which is what makes it a little better for a drift car) but really either way you'll be able to handle crazy good, as for torque... the rotary isn't as good for torque as the KA24DE but you can still get good numbers, and much better HP

sitting in the garage... very lonely
its not reliable and i get about 9mpg with it, its a hole in my pocket i don't have to deal with.
a few days ago i went out and bought a 95 maxima 5-spd. its great, really stock vs. stock it blows the 240 out of the water.

RX-7's are awesome. They outhandle 240sx's like 100 times. They dont even "churn" out a lot of hp, but they are so incredibly light, you dont need much hp. BUT, with not a lot of money (if you know what your doing) you've got an 11 sec car (like mine :) ) The only downside of them is that they are maintance hogs. Dont drive under 3K rpms, change the oil every 2,500-3,000 miles, NEVER use synthetic oil, and you should have a car that will outlast any 240sx.

and don't forget, never turn the car on, move it 20 ft, and turn it off, or you'll be asking the engine to flood for you, always let it run for like 2 min. minimum

You mean RX7, thats the stock turbo hood for the TMIC.
as far as those vents go. is there anything even there? it looks like the front lenses were just removed.

they are called "flash to pass" lenses
goto:

for replacements
you can often times find them used, ebay, junkyard etc. I'm sure those methods would be cheaper..

the fd3s suspension has multilink rear suspension, and double wishbone front, so im assuming the older fc3s has the same type of suspension set up, while the 240sx has the macpherson strut type on the front, and multilink rear. the double wishbone type on the front gives the car better handling, and better response over macpherson strut type, so i think the rx-7 has the better design, that is if the fc3s has the double wishbone front like the fd3s.
Dayna240sx, i dont think that rotaries last longer than pistons, esp in the older rotaries, because of the way they move, and the older ones had problems with its design, i forgot what it was. but the rotary rubs against the walls harder than piston engines, so you re gonna have to replace that more often, or the reliability isnt gonna be as good. you re more likely gonna need a rebuild for a rotary than a piston engine. im not saying its not reliable, i know if you take care of it well, it ll last, but not like piston engines.

For the most part, your right, piston engines will last longer. But if you properly care for a rotary, they last a very long time. I've seen a 13b-REW last longer than 200,000 miles. My race car that I beat the hell out of finally died at 187,000 miles. I also had one that was at 230,000 miles, but it was totaled so ran, it just didnt "go". I've also seen websites of them with over 300,000 miles and still running.
Rebuilding a rotary is a ton easier than a piston engine also. Taking a rotary out, rebuilding it and putting it back in take about 6-8 hours. A piston engine? You probably have at least 8 hours just rebuilding it.
So basicly its all how you take care of it.

I'll sell you any of my rx-7's. The convertible needs work, I dont have time for it, I only bought it because the guy needed bail money. But you could fix it up and make a hefty profit on it. If you have time, it would make a good winter project. The Turbo II is NOT a daily driver and the GTUs needs a new engine (the one it has is definatly not rebuildable)...

well the driver side one would be I guess  but the passenger side one would vent to the intake after an aftermarket intake was installed
so theres my reasoning for wanting them :iceslolan
