Can 4 Valve Heads be bolted onto a 4.6 liter 2 Valve block?

I found this article,
http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/tech/0302MMFF_MixMatch/
use the Find function in your browser and paste in this line to find the paragraph:
4V heads on a 2V block

However, there are no details.

No flame posting please. Just the facts, Ma'am. Just the facts.

I was being serious, yes they will physically bolt to the block but now what are you going to do :lol2:

I wanted to know if this type of head swap was economically feasible. The performance of the new Mach1 is fantastic. So I was wondering if it's possible to get the Mach1's performance for on the less expensive GT. Also, I will follow up and see what the insurance difference is for both cars. The cost of insurance always seems to get in the way of a performance itch.

Cheaper to buy a 4V Cobra motor, wiring harness and computer for around $6000 and install it.

Possible yes but you basically need to buy a 4V motor for parts, so where is the sense at all?

Darn. You guys are bumming me out. I was hoping the head swap would cost w-a-y less than a new 4V engine. Does anyone know of any links regarding the specifications of a GT engine vs. a Mach 1 engine? Sorry for pushing this issue further, but I'm a cheapskate.

It's not cheaper that is the point!

$6000 is a whole lot of dough. What can be done to increase the redline of the 2V GT engine, even if it results in loss of torque at the lower end?

First there is nothing cheap for the 2V or 4V engine as far as engine parts.
You could change you cams but even more important the intake manifold all to raise hp and drop torque. The second will almost=a S/C

Like I tell any1 with a 4.6 you want more power than just bolt-ons it's S/C or Nitrous time.

you can pick up everything for about $2500 on ebay...hell in corral some dude sold a 4v engine and tranny, for 750 bucks, with only 50k miles....

but as far as the mach 1 vs gt goes, the mach 1 engine is a 96-98 cobra motor...which has a forged crank, unlike the gt.

Its cheaper to get a 4v over swapping a 2v.
