The 4G63 has two timing belts, the main one drivn off the crank turns the oil pump/balance shaft, and the cams in the head. The second belt is also driven off the crank sprocket and it turns another balance shaft. Your vibration could be caused by one of the following two things. 1. The balance shaft belt snapped, and the the engine is vibrating because the other balance shaft is still spinning, without the other shaft to counteract the motion of the shaft. 2. The oil pump balance shaft is out of phase. It's possible to align all timing marks correctly, but still have the oil pump shaft be out of phase. the only way to make sure the pump is aligned correctly before installing the main timing belt is to remove a plug and verify it's position. there is a very helpful guide to removing and installing a timing belt in a 4G63 engine at http://www.vfaq.com in the "engine" section. Hope this helps.

just remove your balance shafts all together and be happy... that way you wn't have to worry about the balance shaft belt breaking in the future inturn taking out the timing belt. If it happens you will need another new engine or at least a new head

zyman, not sure if you ever solved the vibration problem, but it does sounds like a shaft timing problem. In case you having already, suggest you also verify the following:
1. visual inspection of the motor mounts.
2. ensure the spark plug wires are correctly installed. I've seen instances where reversed plug wires caused a simliar vibration.

Do you get the vibration when standing still and engine @1800-2500rpm? Or are you driving the car? If driving, what gear are you in or do you have at?

thanks everyone who helped me on my problem,
it was balance shaft timing. so i took them out and binned them. car runs nice.

glad to hear things are back to norm Zy! I know things like that can drive you  . It's amazing to me the time, effort, and costs the 4G63 engineers went in designing something that seems to cause more problems than it resolves :screwy: -- but nothing of course a little reverse engineering can't solve :naughty: .
good job and thanks for following up on this post!
