heres a few tips that you might have or might have not tried. the person who put it in, they may have just hit or bumped soething. as far as your door light, it might be as simple as on the top of the roof, where the ilght is, is it set to off, or door, or on. cuz if its set to door, it lights up whenever the door opens, if its set to off, it stays off. and for your dash lights being very faint, he might have bumped the dimmer switch. thats located on the left havnd side, lower on the dash, its a little knob that you can turn. and as far as your stereo, I cant offer much help since I cant see it. ive installed many stereos in my cars and for me there no problem. but if you cant get it to work, itll cost you some money but you could always take it to a best buy or american and have them install it for you.
but if you want to still try to do it yourself, you can hook up the old one by just reconnecting all the same colored wires, that should be all that has to be done. and the same goes for even installing the new one, match up the wires by color and if you ran your own stereo cable, you haev to test which cable is to what speaker and connect them accordingly. but it sounds like youve proly tried most if not all of this so I would sugeest taking in somewhere that installs stereos and just pay the $20 or whatever it is to have them do it.
